“Follow back culture” was created by Russian troll farms to get their content seen on platforms that use algorithms, since “# of followers” was part of the algorithm. Not everyone following thousands is a bad actor, but the percentage is high. Not intended for anyone else to use.

I come to Bluesky for cat pictures and archaeology pictures and if I’m lucky an archaeological picture of a cat. Some people come to get everyone else riled up about how hopeless everything is. That’s legitimate, but incompatible to my peace. Not intended for others to use. Will eventually delete.
