This morning I had the chance to reflect of the life and work of a great man at the annual MLK Breakfast in Hendersonville.
Folks remember Dr. King for his racial justice work, and for good reason – but I also like to remember that he was a real fighter for working people. 🧵
Jan 19, 2026 17:13He believed in the American dream that everyone, no matter their creed, color, or ZIP code, should be able to make a good wage for full time work and afford to raise a family, and he spent his life uplifting the poor and other struggling Americans.
There's a lot dividing us from one another right now, but we have more in common than could ever be different, and Dr. King's life shows us that it's never a bad time to work together for a better world. I hope that's a set of values we'll take with us as we remember him today.
