- There's already a few NetGalley reviews on Goodreads, which means people are really PLOWING through this novella. Which is good, because it's designed to be read quickly, and I'm glad they're enjoying the story. But there's something in me that thinks Noooo, savor it! Slow down, you'll choke!

- The 6th story in THE JOINING is an earthy invitation. Love, or something else, is buried six feet deep. To find out which, dig 'til your hands bleed. Thanks to Donn Hess for this story! THE JOINING: SCENES OF WEDDING TERROR comes out 12.12.25 from @crystallake.bsky.social!

- sometimes the proliferation of ad culture genuinely scares me. video ads on kiosks at gas stations. unskippable 30 second ads. 2-hour ads on YouTube. I just had an experience where hitting skip on an ad just brought me to a second ad. where does it end?
- The 5th story in THE JOINING is a theatrical terror. Don't upstage this bride, or it's curtains for you! (the pun department apologizes, offending parties have been shot) Thanks to @jacklothian.bsky.social for providing this tale. THE JOINING comes out 12.12.25 from @crystallake.bsky.social!

- asking for author blurbs for a new project is simultaneously one of the most exciting and nerve wracking parts of this business. I have the awful urge to end each email with, you hate me don't you? you can tell me...
- The 3rd story in THE JOINING is a false-faced frolic. What will you wear to the wedding feast... and whose skin is it made from? - Cover reveal tomorrow! I've put in almost a year getting THE JOINING - SCENES OF WEDDING TERROR ready for your eyeballs, and now it's almost here! Featuring stories from @horrorsong.blog, @jawmccarthy.bsky.social, @gordonbwhite.bsky.social, @jacklothian.bsky.social, Scott J. Moses, and Rae Wilde!
- I watched a movie called BLACK BAG last night and I become increasingly convinced that given a meaty character, Cate Blanchette can do no wrong. Like in Tar, she creates a character mostly from between-dialogue glances and microexpressions, and the result is electric. Fassbender's good too.

- Batman, after foiling the Joker's plan to steal all the boner pills in Gotham: This city... just showed you... that it's full of people... ready to believe in wood.
- I've gotten some new follows recently so it's time for a re-intro. I write books, I edit anthologies, I repost fantasy art. I've got a body horror novella out on sub, and I've got 2 books coming soon. THE JOINING, edited for @crystallake.bsky.social BRIDES IN THE DARK, from @quillandcrow.com

- Time to introduce a character from BRIDES IN THE DARK who I haven't talked about much yet. Meet Fay, Patrick's mother. Sweet-tempered with her son, but quiet and scheming and ruthless when she needs to be, Fay never shows her full hand to anybody. Thanks to @faffuart.bsky.social for the artwork!
- THE UNWELCOME was my first major release (my first two books were a college project and an accidental novella) so while it's not really my debut, it holds a special place in my heart as my first... something. I dunno. It feels significant somehow. Thanks for continuing to show it love!
- yes the second chapter of my new novel features a three paragraph sequence of a man trying to piss on a sugar maple tree and mostly succeeding, I will not be taking questions at this time
- Thanks much to Timothy Halpin for this amazing rendering of Stella, one of the two romantic leads of my upcoming fantasy novella BRIDES IN THE DARK! Stella usually has what the book calls a "mocking" personality, so seeing her so demure is a rarity. @quillandcrow.com

- It's September. Maybe it's a little colder. Maybe the days are a little shorter. Maybe you're spending more time indoors, cowering from the dark. There's no better time to curl up with 14 great horror stories, including the titular novelette "Bury Me Cold." @quillandcrow.com
