in the wake of the Epstein files, ive been seeing people talking about fighting rich elites by saying "this isnt left vs right, its US vs THEM." and i understand the sentiment, but just to be clear what you're describing IS left vs right. the left empowers "us," and the right empowers "them"

also i think people say this because they consider the Democrats to be the "left" party, and not just another right wing party.
