- As if one #CCS carbon dioxide pipeline isn't enough, our region will now have two. #PeakCluster plans to run a 125 mile CO₂ exhaust pipe through #Derbyshire, #Staffordshire, #Cheshire and #Wirral so the cement industry can carry on with business as usual.
- Despite hosting the fossil fuel industry at a careers event this year, @peopleandplanet.bsky.social awarded @wrexhamuni.bsky.social joint 1st in its #EthicalCareers University League. @manmetuni.bsky.social ranked joint 26th and @ljmuofficial.bsky.social joint 51st. All three should be relegated.

- Next spring, the government is set to finalise the #HydrogenTransportBusinessModel which will enable H₂ pipeline schemes to progress. In the meantime, #HyNet backer #Cadent has decided to pause its Development Consent Order planning application.
- Fossil fuel giant #BP has pulled the plug on its #H2Teesside #BlueHydrogen scheme citing a "material change in circumstances" after the site landowners sought permission to build a datacentre instead. Oh dear, how sad, never mind. One down, one to go!
- While #EETFuels (Essar Energy Transition) keeps on crowing about #TransformingForTomorrow and #Sustainability, it keeps on expanding its consumer network. The #BlueHydrogen it'll produce at #Stanlow will power its refinery so it can sell more fossil fuels in a climate crisis.

- When will politicians like #EdMiliband and #LouiseGittins realise that #HyNet, #BlueHydrogen and #CCS are false solutions that'll worsen the climate crisis? They're buying a fossil fuel industry lie and paying for it with billions of pounds of public money.
- Heads up #EETFuels. Hydrogen makes sense in a few industrial applications and very little else. Refining crude isn't one of them. #HyNet is critically flawed because its key application is refining climate wrecking fossil fuels and prolonging their use.

- Plans for a gas pipeline to supply #Stanlow as part of the #HyNetNW #BlueHydrogen scheme have been pulled because the pipeline route needs to be altered. Building new fossil fuel infrastructure to produce dirty blue H₂ in a climate crisis is totally crazy.

- Keir Starmer has effectively blocked the #bp #H2Teesside #BlueHydrogen scheme by endorsing a rival tech development. Despite headlines claiming his decision is a blow to #NetZero, it's actually a boost because blue H₂ is worse for the climate than gas.
- The government is exploring plans by @climeworks.bsky.social for a #DirectAirCapture facility as part of #HyNet. The #DAC process is expensive and energy intensive and Climeworks has faced significant criticism due to its technology failing to meet capture targets.
- Octopus boss Greg Jackson says the government should #StopFundingCCS for energy systems because it's "a gift to the oil and gas industry to carry on what its doing, and carry on the fiction that enormous amounts of public money should enable it to keep doing it".
- #CCS is a fanciful technofix which lacks a credible track record. Schemes like #HyNet will impose unlimited financial liabilities and huge environmental costs on the UK and help dirty energy to sideline renewables. The government must #StopFundingCCS now.
