- SO many Hyneks in #KCD2 🥺
- Reposted by Hynek SchlawackI was going to ask y'all to donate to @signal.org but I had to do it first. Now that I have, please consider learning about Signal, and why privacy is important, even when you don't have anything to hide, then consider donating to help Signal continue their work. signal.org/donate
- I needed a simple thing: 1. Create 3000x1000 document. 2. Add a white box as background. 3. Insert a 9 KB SVG. 4. Export as SVG. Exported SVG sizes: Inkscape: 9 KB Affinity Designer 2: 32KB Affinity (new): 120 KB Pixelmator Pro: 1 MB 2026 and Inkscape remains the only first-class SVG editor. 😳
- I'm not saying 2°C and rain made Tromsø an icy death trap but my Oura ring identified my walk to the bus station as ice skating.
- firing everyone responsible for a phone app logging me out is the moderate stance
- In hindsight it's kinda obvious that a place with currently 72mins of daylight has really good coffee #tromsø
- ~Everything on Apple TV(+) is underrated, but I really need to go to bat for PALM ROYALE because I want there to be a 3rd season so bad. Think love child of White Lotus & Only Murders in the Building: Amazing actors with great chemistry having fun in delightful sets while solving mysteries. 11/10
- anthropic checked their couch! 🥲🎉
- @anthropic.com is investing $1.5 million in the PSF, focused on security. These funds will make an enormous impact on the PSF and the security of millions of #Python and @pypi.org users. Please join us in thanking Anthropic for this landmark gift! Read more on our blog:
- Santa #Python came super early in 2026! With build 1.4.0, it is now possible to easily dump effective package metadata! So getting the version of a package in the current directory is now as easy as `pipx run build --metadata 2>/dev/null | jq -r .version`. github.com/pypa/build/r...
- how did i not know about tox's version range syntax!? (i.e., 3{9-14} == 3{9,10,11,12,13,14}) 😍 (added in tox 4.25.0 on 2025-03-27) #python

- Remember PayPal's Honey scam? It's been a minute (a year, in fact), but MegaLag has just published part two to his Patrons and I'm 11 minutes in and it's already a doozy. Yes, it gets (much) worse. www.patreon.com/MegaLag
- I know I've glazed Overmind in my last video, but I think I've come to like mprocs more now! It separates the output, is actively maintained, and it works better overall for me: github.com/pvolok/mprocs
- it's kinda wild that there's still no widely supported file format for video files that allows multiple subtitle tracks. at this point apple's insistence on not supporting mkv can only be seen as a political decision?
- Blip is amazing: it's kinda AirDrop that works over the Internet & locally on iOS, macOS, Windows, and Android – Linux pending. Works with folders and data goes directly, no upload. I've learned about it from MKBHD and I'm already sad how it'll inevitably go bad. blip.net/
- I have just bought my first Bluray in decades because I refuse to subscribe to another streaming service… it's less than $15 for a whole season… were they always this cheap!? (I'll rip and stream it locally; my DiskStation/LG combo seems to support AV1 out of the box 🤩)
- DK: Bananza light be the game that ruined itself most by self-indulgently never fucking ending. Ever since Junction 2.0 I've been begging it to end but it kept finding ways to keep going. :( At the beginning I loved it, at the end I yelled expletives at it when it just wouldn't end. What a waste.
- nice, pinact, the GitHub Action pinning tool added version cooldowns in 3.5.0! github.com/suzuki-shunsuke/pi...
- I’m slightly feverish (I’m sure that’s the reason) to announce stamina 25.2.0! Among others, it allows `on` hooks to return custom back-off values (think: Retry-After headers!) and adds support for retrying generators (both sync and async): github.com/hynek/stamin...
- a pypi release script of mine just failed because sphinx linkcheck failed because… wikipedia has to throw 403s after the first request i hate living in the future

- guess who's booked first conference travel for 2026 👍👍
- Oura just told me to get ready for bedtime at 5am in the morning so I guess computers can get jet lag now too. #agi (Yes, I'm physically back home; expect an exciting stamina release that was ready before I left but was too chicken to push before travel.)
- dropping liquid ass on us and fucking off sure is a boss move
- My resort (mix of timeshares & private property) has a Mai Tai Thursday that I accidentally walked into & it's the first time I've seen rowdy boomers & it's kinda cute. Didn't even know there's so many ppl here until they started cheerfully appearing with their walking frames from all corners.
- Hawaiʻi is paradise but coming back to Lahaina after 9 years is heart-breaking. What used to be a cute city is still a flat construction site with a few new houses, a few shell constructions, & lots of trailers & containers. I remember the pain seeing the 🔥 on TV & it hits again. #lahainaStrong
- Who's ready for Xmas!? (He said after working off the 1st-of-month dependabot/pre-commit GitHub PR queue.)
- Paddling into the 1st Advent
- I've been less the 24h at a hotel that has a Spectrum internet connection and I already know why everybody hates it.
- In 2020, after it became clear I'm unlikely to die of COVID, I've switched my perspective from fear to fascination. I looked around & ~enjoyed~ experiencing unprecedented times. Couldn't change them, so I channeled my inner Willink & make the best out of it. Today, I feel similarly about AI. 1/2

- Turns out you can end up at Denny's even on thanksgiving (because you failed to make reservations in time)!
- shots fired: > it's abundantly clear that the talented folks who used to work on the product have moved on to bigger and better things, with the remaining rookies eager to inflict some kind of bloated, buggy JavaScript framework on us in the name of progress.
