- Hastings Borough Council’s housing acquisitions programme has led to fewer children living in temporary accommodation and has helped people out of rough sleeping in 2025. The number of children living in private temporary accommodation was 62 fewer at the end of 2025 than it was at the end of 2024.
- Following a fire at the Former Convent site on Magdalen Road on 1 February 2026, Hastings Borough Council is reminding residents that this site is private property and is unsafe to enter. - We will be running a consultation on Hastings’ draft Local Plan in February, with plenty of chances, both online and in person, to learn more and share your views on the future of Hastings. The Local Plan will guide the development and growth of Hastings until 2041.

- SWEP (severe weather emergency provision) has been activated in the Hastings Borough Council area and will remain active until further notice. The council has been working with Warming Up The Homeless to provide a place of overnight safety for rough sleepers during the severe weather.
- Tomorrow is the deadline for registered charities, non-profit voluntary or community groups to apply for the Foreshore Trust’s Large Grants Programme 2026-2028. There is approximately £181,000 per year for the programme split between five different areas.

- Exciting news! We have applied for Green Flag status 2026 for Alexandra Park. The Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
