- The only fungus I saw the other day during some pretty cold temperatures! 🥶. Identified as an Octospora, probably O. musci-muralis growing with its host the common cushion-forming moss Grimmia pulvinata. 🍄🟫 🌿
- Do you have spore measurements for these? I’m puzzling over a few octospora species myself at the moment.

- Two new wood-inhabiting fungi have been identified in the Yunnan Province of China: 𝘈𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘻𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 and 𝘗𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦. Learn all about their morphologies and check out some more illustrations here: doi.org/10.3897/mycokeys.127.179422
- Novel members of the Cainiaceae fungal family have recently been documented from bamboo and grass hosts in both the Yunnan Sichuan Provinces of China. This study enriches the current understanding of fungal biodiversity within Cainiaceae: doi.org/10.3897/mycokeys.128.178090

- 𝘎𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴 has been discovered to be a complex of at least four distinct new species. Researchers have identified a pale version in the UK (𝘎. 𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘴) and three grey versions in North America (𝘎. 𝘧𝘶𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘴, 𝘎. 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘶𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘴 and 𝘎. 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘶𝘴) that are genetically unique.
- This study was heavily supported by citizen scientists uploading photos to nature apps! Find out more here: doi.org/10.3897/mycokeys.127.174823 @aberuni.bsky.social

- Trying to do some work but out of my study window a large and beautiful red kite is swooping and diving over my neighbours' back gardens in pursuit of pigeons, and clearly nothing is going to get done until this raptor gets his lunch.
- Weymouth: I have a large bay window upstairs with a fab view out to the west. It's my regular afternoon Gull watching location! The Gulls were rubbish today, but at 5.15 I had 4 Cattle Egret and then 7 'small' grey Geese which I'm certain were the Tundra Beans. Where are they hiding in the daytime?!
