- ‘Each and every day, women like me have to second guess their every move in an attempt to avoid becoming the next headline.’ Great work from Bethel Tesfay on how peer-mentoring schemes on gender-based violence can make women safer. @heraldscotland.bsky.social www.heraldscotland.com/news/2475238...
- Bethel writes: “I volunteered to join the Mentors in Violence Prevention programme at my school. This decision would later transform my opinion on the importance of the education curriculum surrounding GBV.
- “The idea is to help pupils to broaden their knowledge, show them how to discuss gender related matters, and teach them how to use power in a safe, important and useful way.”Dec 1, 2024 19:07
- I remember writing about the horrific death of Sarah Everard a few years ago. This deeply upsetting story has united so many women in their trauma and grief around GBV. Bethel, a very talented young woman, has put in work and effort but men need to make the change women deserve.
- So I will urge any men reading this thread to please also read Bethel’s article (yes, I’m posting this link twice): www.heraldscotland.com/news/2475238...
