- She arrives at the house hoping to find the lady of the manor, who once knew her father. But she meets the lawyer, who turns out to be the girl's downfall.
- The first mistake the girl makes is to be herself. The second is to forget her past.
- If they could make a girl out of falcons, she would be indistinguishable. But they must make the best of a bad job.
- When the girl arrives, the house is beset by grave goods. In the moment she leaves, it will be haunted by antiquities of uncertain provenance.
