- High time for some positivity this morning. My Ubiquiti home network upgrades shipped today, as did my new computer monitor. Going to be a super fun next week.
- I say it again. I purposly visit certain local news sites with a full artillary of DNS blocks, browser-based-adblocking, cookie blocks, etc, etc. just in the hopes that I can deny them of so much ad revenue, that they eventually pass into the night never to be heard from again.

- I admit this question is rhetorical. If what one is saying is actually true and a valid argument, why must all accompanying images and statistics be misrepresenting the reality? If you want to show an example of a poor floating bus stop, bloody well at least show one. They exist. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

- "Would a congestion charge bring benefits to Edinburgh?" Well, if London and New York are to be considered examples for models to copy for implementation, and we we looked at traffic volumes, air pollution, bus times, revenue, AND safety, then, yes. Yes it would. news.stv.tv/east-central...

- “Maybe the various left wing parties on the council need a lesson in basic economics and what the Laffer curve means before they set fees and charges, or things like the tourist tax.” Perhaps Cllr. Whyte should stop living in the 70s. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/11...
- Speaking of bike lanes, it’s lovely to see people in mobility scooters zooming along the lanes on Leith Walk. No issues with pedestrians, plenty of room for cyclists to pass, and the user rolling on unbroken pavements in brisk safety. Bike lanes aren’t just only for cyclists. Remember that.

- Never underestimate the healing powers of a really good bath. And Japanese bath salts. 🫠
- Seems like a new pivot I’m seeing is no longer about bicycles v. cars, but bicycles v. buses. “Can’t build more cycle lanes because we’ll lose bus lane access, and we’re concerned about delays.” “Shouldn’t build cycle lanes cause they should just use bus lanes.” *rolls up trouser leg* Let’s go.

- 14 hardy people to start the first Edinburgh Dawn Patrol of February this morning. That Easterly wind makes The Shore, Seafield, & Porty an absolute slog - but the smell (and taste!) of the sea was definitely present. Always joyful hearing the massive parcels of Oystercatchers on the beaches too!

- So Williams & Johnson coffee on The Shore does something called “Bin Ends & Test Roasts” that’s in a lever-pull container. It’s a blend of just that, lot ends and tests. Fill your own container, £2 per 100g. At risk of not keeping it to myself, it’s always a banger. Adds a lot of variety. 🤩

- Enjoyed going to the Heart of Newhaven yesterday to check out the first public consultation for the new planned development at Western Harbour. western-harbour.com ~218 units, replacing the grass-only lot between current buildings, and neat considerations for living. Watching with interest.

- Reposted by A Geo who CyclesThe only danger to pedestrians at floating bus stops are motor vehicles
- Reposted by A Geo who CyclesEither you're happy for people to be killed and injured to save you a couple of minutes on your journey, or you're not. The evidence that LTNs and 20mph zones save lives is overwhelming.

- Reposted by A Geo who CyclesA floating bus stop being trialled by TRL for Transport for London in November 2013. It reminds us that the unfamiliar takes time to become familiar and it isn't always a simple journey. Perhaps the conversation needs to shift to a real vision of human-scale future streets? #FridayFun

- Helped a friend move into his new flat this morning. Previous owner had to sell it as it was an AirBnB, and wasn’t able to keep it under the new rules. Friend is no longer renting, and owns his place now. His previous flat share is now available for someone else. System working as intended.
- As much as I only follow a single team in the American NFL these days because I’m an owner, I just came across the 4 teams who could win the “World” championship. Rams: Get bent. Moved team because greed. Broncos: Lifetime grudge for winning in ‘98 Patriots: Should be ejected into sun. Go Seattle?
- Response to recent stuff involving politics and tariffs: L O L. Absolute joke of an imbecile. That’s pretty much it. Carry on.

- 3 hours of plane delays and the final train possibility out of Manchester to Edinburgh last night. Finally home bout half one last night. Let’s see if the brain works well enough today to restart the year and be ready for DnD tonight. 🙃

- Reposted by A Geo who CyclesUnder the Treason Felony Act 1848, it is a crime punishable by life imprisonment to intimidate parliament or encourage any foreign power to invade the U.K. We should be applying this law to every traitor openly calling for the U.S to depose our democratically elected government.

- Last night’s flight off the Isle of Man cancelled due to weather. So far this morning the airport is “open” but the runways don’t even look plowed. Let’s see if our flight goes off this AM. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Reposted by A Geo who CyclesIn our name, with our money, ostensibly for oil, but mostly because we have a president who's addicted to power and attention and needs to deflect from being friends with the world’s most famous pedophile. Shame on these fucking monsters who run my country. They need out.
- I remain utterly embarrassed, dejected, and horrified at what’s become of the country of my birth. The current president is one of the most abhorric people alive today.
- When I start getting emails about “Check out these posts!” from long-forgotten forums/message boards after they’ve been sold to advertising agencies, the first thing I do is request GDPR information out of spite. Then I proceed to full deletion. It’s the little things that bring joy sometimes.
