- I am pleased to share significant progress in Frederick County's fight to reduce drug overdoses, a challenge that has deeply affected our community. Last year, we recorded just 7 confirmed fatal overdoses and an 87% reduction in overall overdoses since 2016.

- Today, I had the honor of joining Dottie and her daughter Robin to proclaim February as Turner Syndrome Awareness Month. Turner Syndrome, a chromosomal abnormality that affects 1 in every 2,000 female births, occurs when one of the X chromosomes is partially or completely missing. 💜

- Excited to celebrate the completion of lobby renovations at 30 N. Market Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony! Thanks to the Frederick County Division of Planning and Permitting and the Treasury Department for enhancing safety and security and for finishing ahead of schedule.
- It was a privilege to attend the Annual Appreciation Banquet for Carroll Manor Fire Company 14/28 this weekend. They have served Frederick County proudly for nearly 75 years! Congratulations to all award recipients for their service, dedication, and response time.
- Yesterday, our FCG team collaborated with the City of Frederick to visit several encampments and connect with people experiencing homelessness. This coordinated effort is important for building trust and understanding their needs.
- Congratulations to Trauma Specialists of Maryland on their new location in Urbana! Their office offers psychotherapy and evidence-based trauma treatments like EMDR, along with art therapy for kids. A special shoutout to CEO Rachel Harrison for continuing to heal communities through mental wellness.
- Due to the recent winter storm, the FY27 budget listening session originally scheduled for Monday, January 26 will take place on Monday, February 2 at 7 p.m. at Governor Thomas Johnson Middle School.

Then, we attended the MLK Beloved Community potluck where we discussed Dr. King’s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech.

- I am pleased to announce that the County Council has increased the daycare tax credit from $3,000 to $10,000 to encourage new providers. This tax credit can be utilized for improvements to a home or business specifically dedicated to daycare, as well as for commercial daycare providers.
