However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

- Whew, what a year 2025 was. I feel like I've lived a dozen years just in that one. I decided to chronicle 2025, to remember it better in the future. I was privileged to travel to 10 major cities across the world, make wonderful things, and give 28 talks, workshops, keynotes, and lectures.
- Socialize cost, privatize profit. A classic tactic. We are paying for data centers, whether or not we wanted them. They are a leech on what should be (ideally) *public* infrastructure: infrastructure for us, not them.
- This chart by @nathanielbullard.com is one reason data centers are driving up our electricity prices. Tech companies usually build data centers close to cities, where accommodating their GW-scale power demand entails costly reinforcement of wires or transformers. Utilities pass those costs on to us.

- I was a community organizer for 3 yrs, and we always had 3 things we got on the same page about: 1. *the* first, concrete thing we wanted to change 2. *the* person we needed to convince to make that change real 3. *the* strategy to get that person to make the change happen This work is very hard.

- Hammers not only shape thinking, but demand from us entire industries, regulations, policy, and global trade. In a modern economy, we might trade our iron and lumber with another country and *they* assemble our hammers, which we then import. Tools don't just shape the user, they shape all of *us.*
