Macc Sustainable Travel
Sustainable travel is my thing. Pedestrians, cycling, public transport. Green Party Member. Cycling UK local rep. Chairs Cheshire Active Travel Syndicate. Trouble. In posts CEC=Cheshire East Council.
- One good reason not to drive on verges is that they can be soft and muddy. "You can't park there mate!".
- These shrubs take up over a third of the pavement. If they took up a third of the carriageway for cars something would have been done. Reported but not expecting any action.
- Reported. Kennedy Avenue, Macc.
- Just made a donation to the Green Party. But sad to see they are still promoting X/Twitter. Time to take a lead on this I think. @zackpolanski.bsky.social
- Just reported this rather poorly looking tree to CEC. Close to a footway. They have recently been fined £500k when a tree fell and killed someone so I'm expecting they will be quite interested in looking at this one.
- CEC consulting on parking restrictions in Pickmere in an attempt to stop antisocial parking. Longstanding problem. #waroncars Of course without enforcement, they won't work. 15 fines as police crackdown on drivers parking illegally in Pickmere | Knutsford Guardian share.google/oMD4EIk9ZRvo...
- You would struggle to get a wheelchair through there.
- So CEC issued their Cycling Strategy in 2017. This had targets and objectives. It's now being superseded by their Active Travel Strategy. By FoI I asked to see their assessment of the previous strategy. They have replied that they didn't assess it. That seems pretty unprofessional to me.
- Bad news concerning the number of huge pickups on our roads. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...
- I'm not sure that Richard has really thought this through.
- I had no idea that Stalin was an advocate of sustainable transport. Education courtesy of The Telegraph.
- Another success. Mud and leaves making pavement slippery reported yesterday. Fixed by CEC in under 90 minutes. Well done CEC.
- A couple of senior jobs being advertised in CEC Highways. No mention of a knowledge of active travel in the job descriptions.
- I think Wendy would like pedestrians to wave a flag before using a pedestrian crossing.
- I want to make a case for our General Hospital being a major node for bus routes in the area. Clearly this isn't a new idea so I'm hoping you can suggest examples and studies that might support such an idea?
- Reported lack of dropped kerb and uneven slippery pavement for the umpteenth time. Nothing ever happens. Cheshire East don't care about pedestrians.
