If the things you require me to sacrifice "for the greater good" are my healthcare, my safety, my bodily autonomy and my right to exist as an equal human being in your society, then it's not the good at all, and your party can burn to the ground and the nation along with it.
I will not light myself on fire to keep you warm, and it is morally reprehensible to try to convince people to vote for their own subjugation.
That's a rather extreme stance, and not reflective at all of reality.
No one can force you to make a good choice.
But we can be sad if your sense of self is so inflamed you'd let the nation burn down with 330 million people in it to soothe your own ego.
Out of curiosity, would you vote for an anti-abortion candidate if they promised to prevent the nation burning down?
Or a pro-Russia candidate?
Apparently this guy is a gay man, so, perhaps a candidate who thinks conversion therapy works and is good?

But I know that in a democracy to get these things we need to get public support for them, and that takes time - and sadly losing a lot of battles in the meantime."
Don't ask about how popular things like interracial marriage or integration were when the happened, though. It might make him uncomfortable. (/s)

'Elle Dee Elle' is a gay man? According to his posts, at least. (Hence, something like supporting conversion therapy is an active and direct threat to his rights as well)
Ah.
