- HB26-1013 is about fairness and transparency for renters. This bill strengthens my 2025 Junk Fees law by clarifying the rules for RUBS, so tenants and landlords are on the same page about how utilities can be billed. Happy to report it passed the House Business Affairs & Labor Committee today.
- Today, the House passed SJR26-007, a resolution recognizing February 2026 as the 100th Black History Month. The resolution honors the profound contributions of Black Americans in Colorado and affirms that we cannot learn from false or partial narratives, only from the full truth of our shared past.

- Between President Trump’s punishment campaign, federal cuts to Medicaid and child care, and the rising cost of living, Coloradans are under real pressure. As we open the 2026 legislative session I’m staying focused on what matters most: making life more affordable and protecting working families.
- The Trump administration’s move to restrict federal funding puts Colorado families at risk. CCCAP helped 27,598 kids last year and TANF supports 47,000 children living in deep poverty. If this freeze isn’t fixed aid will run out in less than a month, hurting families and threatening providers.
- UPK registration is now open. Colorado’s free preschool program has served 87,000 kids and saves families about $6,300 a year. Most children in the year before kindergarten qualify for 15 free hours weekly. Details and eligibility: cdec.colorado.gov/universal-pr...

- It is easy to feel powerless in the face of corruption and cruelty, but tomorrow, people across the country will come together for the No Kings Day of Action to peacefully protest the oligarchy that is carving up our country. This is about showing up for each other and making our voices heard.
- On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute peoples who call this region home. Their culture and contributions endure despite centuries of displacement and erasure. May this day renew our responsibility to truth-telling and respect for Indigenous sovereignty.

- Today we honor generations of working people who fought for rights we might take for granted: minimum wage, overtime pay, safe workplaces, and the freedom to organize. As we spend time with our loved ones, let’s remember progress comes when working people stand together. There is so much more to do!
- Thank you to everyone who came to our emergency town hall last night. In the face of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, it was inspiring to see so many neighbors come together, ask thoughtful questions, and share your concerns. When we come together, we’re stronger than the problems in front of us.

- The GOP’s Big Ugly Bill is a $1.2B gut punch to Colorado’s budget. TABOR refunds? Gone. Tax credits for working families? Gone. Schools & health care? On the chopping block. This isn’t fiscal responsibility, it's an attack on working people.
- Trump’s BBB has left Colorado with a $1.2B hole. That means cuts to schools, health care, and food assistance while billionaires get richer. Colorado families deserve better.

- The SCOTUS ruling in Skrmetti, upholding TN’s discriminatory ban on gender-affirming hormone therapy for trans youth, will harm youth. This proven care is vital to the health and well-being of trans youth, and thankfully in CO kids can still access it. apnews.com/article/supr...
