- Thanks to some great comments and suggestions, we've updated TADA! Read it here: ecoevorxiv.org/repository/v... Transferable, Available, Documented, Annotated.
- 🎉New preprint! "TADA! Simple guidelines to improve code sharing" tinyurl.com/8rmnwjrk We present simple guidelines to help researchers of all coding levels improve the transparency and reproducibility of their analytical code, TADA! Transferable, Accessible, Documented, Annotated.
- Also now featuring @seantattan.bsky.social!
- Just renewed my membership for the 5th year with @sortee.bsky.social. A fantastic organisation to be a part of. If you want to become a member and are interested in open, reliable, and transparent EcoEvo, it’s worth joining! sortee.org/join/
- 2026 started off well. URF rejection within two days! 🥲
- My favourite modelling package just got even better! 🙌🙌
- Fast phylogenetic generalised linear mixed-effects modelling using the glmmTMB R package biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/20…
- Finished my last data editor and peer review for 2025. Off for Christmas! 🎄
- A new (and improved) version of the fantastic BES’s reproducible code guide is now live. Seriously amazing resource for those wanting to produce code that enables reproducible research. Featuring some SORTEE members and also code review!! @sortee.bsky.social
- Excited to launch the new improved Reproducible Code guide from @britishecologicalsociety.org @methodsinecoevol.bsky.social FREE online here! www.britishecologicalsociety.org//wp-content/... Amazing work by some very talented ECRs. We hope it’s useful!
- Question for academic blueskyers - When did you first become a journal editor/associate editor? When you started your own lab / became a research fellow / got hired on a permanent basis? #academicbluesky #earlycareer #postdoclife
- Important article for anyone wanting to conduct ageing research. With artwork by @sultanova.bsky.social!
- Controlled settings may offer limited insight into the complexities of ageing in natural and variable ecosystems, and why (and how) ageing patterns vary so widely across individuals, populations, and species. We call for more research on ecology of ageing! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
- Coming to the last month of my tenure as @sortee.bsky.social President. Such a fantastic organisation to be a part of - the volunteers throughout the various committees are inspiring. If you’re interested in making science more open, you should become a member and help us grow!!
- Excited and honoured to be representing SORTEE as President in 2025. Also, a massive thank you to the fantastic @roseodea.bsky.social for all of her hard work and dedication over the past few years!
- New paper from @marijapurgar.bsky.social out now in @royalsocietypublishing.org Proc B 🙌🙌🙌. We critically evaluated preprint policies from 230 journals in Ecology and Evolution royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/...
- What did we find? 191/230 had publisher- or journal-level policies that allowed preprints. However, less than half had clear instructions and lacked guidance on important preprint factors such as location, timing and linking. In the paper, we provide recommendations for journals and publishers.
- On an Interesting side note, only one journal specifically mentioned @ecoevorxiv.bsky.social despite this being a preprint server designed for Ecology and Evolution.
- This was a fantastic collaborative piece of work led by @marijapurgar.bsky.social with @anticac.bsky.social and Josh Wallach.
- Nice article about longevity research and also about our latest manuscript in Aging Cell. Interview with @sultanova.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/d41... Paper here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
- Is @royalsocietypublishing.org down for anyone else? Keeps asking for me to sign in…
- I love reading papers which state: “Data and code available here [insert link to repository]”- repository is completely empty.
- @sortee.bsky.social’s code club has made it onto RDM weekly :D Excellent article by: @cecibaldoni.bsky.social @disnatalie.bsky.social @cdegroot.bsky.social @saoirsekelleher.eco
- Issue 20 of RDM Weekly is out! 📬 - Automate File Management in R With the {fs} Package @jadeynryan.bsky.social - How to Start Your Own Code Club @sortee.bsky.social - Guide to Social Science Data Preparation and Archiving @icpsr.bsky.social and more! rdmweekly.substack.com/p/rdm-weekly...
- Lovely Saturday in Oxford. It’s been a while since I’ve been into the city centre - how it’s changed!
- The fifth annual @sortee.bsky.social conference has just ended - what a fantastic 27 hours of open science discussion. A huge thanks to the conference committee and all who helped out with technical support. Absolutely honoured to be the president of such an engaging and welcoming society.
- 📢 Only one day left! There's still time to join us for the 5th SORTEE Conference 2025 on October 15-16! Check out the Conference Program and register here: sortee.org/upcoming/ #SORTEE2025
- This looks fantastic!!
- “Data available on request”
- Couldn’t agree more!! Code is so so important to share. One of the main reasons we wrote TADA! was to make it easier to share code for researchers of all levels. ecoevorxiv.org/repository/v...
- I recently sat down with the awesome @oakleigh-wilson.bsky.social in the fourth instalment of @sortee.bsky.social’s ECR Asks. We chatted code review, data editing, and the recent SORTEE-led publication about data and code-sharing policies. sortee.org/blog/2025/09...
- A fantastic few days of ageing talks, great people, and excellent food! Massive thanks to (Hanna!) @kokkonut.bsky.social, Margaux Bieuville, Victor Ronget, and the fantastic people at The Gutenberg Workshops in the Life Sciences
- Back in Ingelheim for another Evolution of Ageing workshop (massive thanks to The Gutenberg Workshops in the Life Sciences for hosting). It’s set to be a great three days of talks and presentations!
