- Random baseball note: If I'm the arbitrator in the Tarik Skubal case, and I see what the Tigers just signed Framber Valdez for, I'm selecting Skubal's number in a tenth of a heartbeat. The two-time-defending AL Cy Young Award winner, and you want to pay him half of what you're paying Valdez? Please.

- Among the things making me sad is that I used to really love watching the Olympics and the Super Bowl, and now I will avoid them as much as possible (I may end up watching the game with my dad). The Olympics are just too profoundly corrupt for me to watch anymore. I hope you enjoy, if you do.

Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue

We know so little of our own history — and this wasn't that long ago. Your grandparents' grandparents' grandparents were likely born around the time of this map.
- The Utah Historical Society just produced a new, excellent map of "The Peoples of North America in 1776." Great resource for anyone teaching, writing, presenting about Native peoples as part of their 250th work. america250.utah.gov/power-of-pla...
- While there are real concerns about "canceling" everyone based on a single quote or action, the idea that people shouldn't be fired/shunned/shamed for certain actions/patterns of actions is just as bad. We need to be able to say to people - even people we like - "No, that's not okay. Bye bye."
- I was thinking about this. We go through the process of getting a judicial warrant to arrest someone who will get things like the Miranda warning, a defense attorney, appeals, etc. (Full well knowing those things can and are abused.) But we don't need one for someone who can be imprisoned +
