Responsibility to the patients whose dignity we fight to protect, to the colleagues we’ve lost along the way, and to the principles that hold our movement together; even as the world around us fractures.

Together, we’ve stood at the edge of impossible choices: in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Haiti, Yemen, Afghanistan, and other places where the space for humanity has been squeezed. We’ve spoken uncomfortable truths, reshaped our institutions, and remained rooted in our purpose while embracing change.

None of this was easy. But I leave this role with a deep sense of pride, gratitude, humility, and, above all, trust. Trust in a movement that still dares to care. Trust in a new generation of leaders. Trust in the colleagues who continue to hold the line, wherever they are.
