- Great summary of the core findings of the DISINTEGRATION @erc.europa.eu project!
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONGreat reporting on the contagion risks of the Trump presidency, drawing in parts on insights from the @disintegrationerc.bsky.social project.
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATION(5/5) This supports findings from this other great @jeppjournal.bsky.social article by Marco Martini and @stefwalter.bsky.social on how Brexit shapes nationalist rhetoric in media coverage outside the UK. doi.org/10.1080/1350...
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATION(1/5) My article Disintegration and Party Competition is out in the latest issue of @jeppjournal.bsky.social ! I ask how parties in other member states reacted to #Brexit. Do #Eurosceptic challengers frame it as an example to follow? Or do they instead row back on ‘hard’ demands to #leave the EU?

- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONSo thanks to the ERWG members - @sarahobolt.bsky.social, @simonhix.bsky.social, @catherinedevries.bsky.social, @macartan.bsky.social & @markkayser.bsky.social - for being such a great group to work with. And I am excited to continue our work with the entire awesome @epssnet.bsky.social Council!
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONBack home after an eventful weekend - I am proud of what we have created (even if we had hoped to arrive at a more consensual way forward). Our work in the EPSA reform working group has been intense. Still, doing this with such an engaged, friendly & creative group has been a privilege and treat.
- 🌍 European Political Science Society is officially launched (EPSS)! 🗓️ June 26, 2025 📍EPSS is a not-for-profit & member-led association for political science in Europe 👉 Visit us: epssnet.org Some updates 👇🏽 🧵
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATION🚨 Big News for European Political Science 🚨 We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the European Political Science Society (EPSS): a new, member-led, not-for-profit association built to support our scholarly community. 🔗 epssnet.org Here’s a thread with everything you need to know. 🧵
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATION(1/3) I am excited to be on 2 great panels at #EPSA in Madrid! On Thursday 26 June (09:30 - 11:10, Room 0A.06) I present joint work with @stefwalter.bsky.social on Parties and IOs on the panel ‘Text analysis in the Study of IR’ chaired by @andduer.bsky.social
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONHighly innovative design with fine-grained implementation: truly recommend the read !
- DISINTEGRATION publ #9 @giorgiomalet.bsky.social and @stefwalter.bsky.social show key events in UK Brexit politics affected EU attitudes in other countries: foreign events can influence voters’ attitudes in other countries and events like Brexit have systemic consequences! doi.org/10.1177/1465...
- To celebrate the successful conclusion of the DISINTEGRATION project, we are creating a thread that presents all published research completed in the project. We'll post one paper a day – stay tuned!
- Charlotte Grynberg, @stefwalter.bsky.social and Fabio Wasserfallen show that pro-Brexit voters expected the EU largely accommodate the UK post-Brexit. Despite becoming more disillusioned over the course of negotiations, however, they still supported Brexit. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
- In a study of EU-27 public opinion on Brexit (n = 39,000), @stefwalter.bsky.social finds that many Europeans face an accommodation dilemma that moderates their willingness to compromise with the UK. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONMuch of my research in the last six years has revolved around the @disintegrationerc.bsky.social project. I am so proud of my team and all we have achieved, and grateful to the @erc.europa.eu for making this possible. If you want to know what we did, this thread is for you:
- Today marks the final day of the DISINTEGRATION project, a project on the mass politics of disintegration generously funded by the @erc.europa.eu . We celebrate with a thread on all we have done and found: 1/20
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONCongratulations to the DISINTEGRATION team! And because our world still remains mostly integrated, it is fitting that in several hours, Cornell students taking Introduction to Comparative Politics with me will be discussing some of its outputs (with this "feature slide" of today's assigned author)

- Our guiding question: Why, how, and with what consequences does the international community respond to unilateral, non-cooperative behavior by individual states, especially challenges that are based on broad popular support? Such challenges were pressing when we started, and have remained salient.
- The DISINTEGRATION project examined public opinion, domestic discourse, and international negotiations in response to unilateral, often voter-endorsed, challenges and engaged in theory-building. 3/20

- Newest publication from the @erc.europa.eu project @disintegrationerc.bsky.social .
- Graph of the month: As the DISINTEGRATION project enters its final month, here is its core theoretical contribution: A framework that predicts that the relative size of cooperation gains at risk and contagion risks shape the extent to which states accommodate non-cooperation by others or not.
- More details on the theoretical framework, a conceptualization and coding schemes for contagion risks, cooperation gains at risk, and various responses to unilateral challenges, as well as a comparative case study demonstrating the usefulness of this framework can be found here:
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONThe workshop featured an impressive line-up of contributions, including results from the organizers' @erc.europa.eu funded projects: the @disintegrationerc.bsky.social project of @stefwalter.bsky.social and the #EUROBORD project of Frank Schimmelfennig.
- Reposted by ERC project DISINTEGRATIONIt was an amazing experience to exchange about current challenges to the #EU 🇪🇺 and its transformations above the Lago Maggiore last week! 🤓🏔️

- ***GRAPH OF THE MONTH*** Does media-reported EU policy focus shape legitimacy perceptions? Our new study finds that ideological leanings matter: left-wing voters reward EU focus on regulation & climate, while right-wing voters prefer immigration policies.
- Welcome to Bluesky, @erc.europa.eu Without the ERC, this project would not exist. www.disintegration.ch
