i'm reading a classic sci-fi novel atm and it is very good but also has that "older SFF novel doesn't seem to believe in queer people" thing going on which i was about to put down to age but then i remembered Ursula K Le Guin wrote The Left Hand of Darkness 20 years earlier sooooo no excuse
