- me: "i really want to lean into analog things this year" also me: *builds a project / habit tracking app from scratch in week 3*
- As someone who works from their laptop most of the time, I'm having an unusally hard time deciding between another 16" laptop or moving to a 14" when I upgrade.
- I love my 16" Macbook Pro, but it's a *brick* 🧱 and sometimes barely fits on tables at coffee shops... I'm just hesitant to give up that screen space
- Anyone else made the switch from a larger to smaller screen and liked it? I have a feeling I'd just need to be more intentional about window management, which isn't a bad thing at all!
- dialing in espresso like
- Earlier this year, I led the development of the Streaks feature in @buffer.com so when I lost my streak a couple weeks ago I was very tempted to log into MongoDB and *cough* accidentally repair my streak *cough*. I would never do that, of course
- Instead, I'm building this thing back the old fashioned way! No funny business here! 💪 Also, week 984, here we come
- My lovely coworkers at @buffer.com gifted me a latte art workshop a while back, and I got to attend it over the weekend ☕ Check it out:
- Started off a little small with this guy. Didn't pour fast enough while building the body of the heart. I wayyy overcorrected on my second attempt, but started to get the hang of it.
- Finally arrived at a much larger heart after a few reps!
- I had been trying to learn via youtube for years, but honestly nothing beats a hands-on approach. We made around 15-20 lattes over the course of an hour and a half, and got valuable feedback and guidance during each one. Which design should I try next??
- Hello Bluesky! 👋🏻 Time for a reintroduction! I'm Jacob, a senior engineer at @buffer.com @bufferdevs.bsky.social working on our Value-Led Growth team 🚀 I'm a backend-first engineer but you can sometimes find me lurking around across the stack ⚙️
- You can expect a weird assortment of engineering thoughts, dog photos, coffee posts, and more! So if that sounds like your thing, follow along for more! 😄 Now for a few random facts:
- - I have the cutest lil' pup named Maple 🍁 - I get to work on some pretty exciting stuff at Buffer, and I'd love to share more in public about it! ⚡ - I'm a software engineer who loves coffee! (how original, right?) Trying to work on my latte art so look out for some photos soon! 👀
- We're still looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer on our newly-formed Value-Led Growth team at @buffer.com! 🎉
- We're looking for a user-focused engineer with growth experience to help us push the boundaries of traditional product-led growth. This means putting user value before revenue, helping our users experience genuine outcomes before any transaction.
- I've been at Buffer for over three years, and I'm having the time of my life! We offer some great benefits, too. Here are a few of my favs: - Unlimited e-books and audiobooks 📚 - Coffee shop stipend (or a coworking space membership) ☕️ - Growth mindset fund for courses and conferences 🧠
- To apply, visit buffer.com/journey/7d5a...
- Since I'm in my 30s now, I judge the quality of DOB fields in UI's by the following metric: "does this make me feel old?"
- had to scroll a little too far while signing up for an account today 😅

- i smelled a campfire this morning and now i have an intense need to spend a weekend at a cabin ⛰️
- My iPhone only ever leaves its case when I install the latest iOS version and I cannot explain this behavior.
- writing code while my lil' bean knits socks is rather delightful @hankgreen.bsky.social
- Something I've learned this year: burnout can happen even when things are going well! By all measures, both life and work are better than ever, but I'm *tired*. Like a deep, deep tiredness 😴
- We haven't traveled much this year (hooray down payment savings!), so I really haven't been using PTO as a result. Luckily, because Buffer is the best place to work of all time, I'm taking a two-and-a-half week staycation at the end of this month ✨
- Excited to knock out some books, take a few bubble baths, and otherwise *chill* for a bit. Probably get a massage, too, let's be honest 🧖 What are your favorite ways to relax at home or in your city?
- The afternoon coffee is a dangerous game. Will it keep me awake all night? Who knows! 🤷♂️

- Gone but not missed. New @buffer.com feature drops tomorrow. Keep those eyes peeled 👀
- usually desk-jacob or coffee shop-jacob is the most productive, but today, couch-jacob has been getting things DONE 💪

- One of my favorite perks of working at Buffer is our coffee shop coworking allowance 🫡 It’s amazing how getting out of the house for an hour or two does wonders for my productivity (and mental health, let’s be honest) Prefer a coworking space? We’ll cover that instead!
- But it’s not just the perks. Getting to build an amazing product with the best team in the world is the best part. Want to join us on the Buffer journey? We just opened a few engineering roles! Check them out here: buffer.com/journey
- always a funny coffee mug to use while working 🥴
- Always love making a giant pot of veggie broth once I save enough scraps. Makes a delicious base for some of our favorite soups: minestrone, pasta e fagoli, and lentil soup 😋
- One thing about me: I love a good soup
- Recently hit my 3 year mark @buffer.com, and thought I'd celebrate in a way that feels most true to myself: with coffee ☕️ Here are some fun Buffer coffees over the years:
- Morning coffee walk in Banff at my first team retreat in 2023
- Cancún coffee at my first company retreat in 2024
