- I don't think Councilors should have to dance around accountability. CA Jordan made >$300k/yr, and he had 1.5yrs to transition the government to the new system. Do these recent financial discoveries suggest that he did not systematically review and transition the City's system of accounting?
- We need an honest understanding of where things stand in the transition. Is there a plan to finish our financial accounting transition? Is Council getting updates on this? How did these gaps affect the budgeting process?
- Respectfully, @councilordunphy.bsky.social, we can't excuse this just because it wasn't malicious. The system of accounting was chosen and managed by City leadership who are still there. If they're incapable of effectively managing government funds, they're not qualified for their positions.
- Failing to monitor accounts, to steward public funds, to manage to policy set into City code, is a failure of leadership that requires accountability. As @larmony.bsky.social said, that money could have kept many people housed over the last few years. They are directly responsible for suffering.
- We also need to know when leadership knew this money was there, what actions they took when it was discovered, and how long it took to notify the CA, Mayor, and Council. I hope that the Council advances @councilorgreen.bsky.social's oversight resolution and fully investigates what happened.

View full threadThis will get uncomfortable, because the answers that are being provided so far don't stand up to scrutiny, as @trryjhrrs.bsky.social points out here. But scrutiny is what is needed - because we need to know the truth, and we won't get there without it. bsky.app/profile/trry...
- These are just colossal screw-ups. Donnie’s gotta go.
- I suspect that Councilor Novick’s vote against the Detention Center Fee will be his undoing in November.
- Truly an unbelievable hill to die on but so on-brand.
