- It looks like the timing and themes of the #DataLeaderSummit in Wexford next month might be prescient. www.reuters.com/business/nvi... Apart from the headline about the money, my eye was caught by the reference to Huang’s concerns about the lack of “business discipline”.

- I had a chat with someone today about the #DataLeaders Summit @castlebridge.bsky.social is hosting in Wexford in March. “Oh. So you’re aiming for a Davos for Data vibe” they said. It made me think. We’re not doing Davos. But we are doing something different. Compact, focussed, and audience-driven.
- Reposted by Daragh @ CastlebridgeOne more thing. The main drive to ban social media for under-16s comes from a fear of regulating it properly *for adults*. That's a fear of the tech-bros and their power. Governments are more willing to regulate kids than techbros.
- “Baring the teeth” here would be better achieved by enforcing the laws we actually have, up to and including enforcement against management and directors of companies where offences have been committed.

- It’s nice to see university Masters courses using some of my older published work in course assignments. But extracts from my commercial writing that I may have posted on my company site from time to time are not “academic papers”. They might be full chapters from my published work.
- @ec.europa.eu launching investigation in to X and Grok on multiple heads. That's nice. www.irishexaminer.com/world/arid-4... Two things: 1) It's going to take a while. 2) It really shouldn't let the focus on investigation and prosecution of criminal offences under domestic law in Ireland.

- For what it’s worth, driving without due care and attention is already a criminal offence and perhaps if it was enforced in situations where drivers literally drive over cyclists (as happened to de Brudder and d’Nefu a few years ago) we might see better safety attention.

- Reposted by Daragh @ CastlebridgeI was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

- Watching a webinar about the future of #DataGovernance in 2026 and beyond. Some of the discussion is painful as the diagnosis of the problems people are discussing is, in my experience and view, wrong. Or at least mostly not right.

- Nope. It’s restricted in X but the actual tool, Grok Imagine, trundles on. Still facilitating the generation of CSAM. Also: geoblocking where it is illegal raises two issues: use of VPNs to circumvent and the ethics (not just legality) of allowing generation of sexualised images of children.

- No. Blaming CoPilot for fictitious police reports is like blaming the oven when you’ve put rat poison in the cake. Generative AI is not a search engine. The buck stops with the management and leadership who didn’t make sure their teams could use it responsibly, which includes knowing when NOT to!
