Michael Lewis called me "...a faceless minion in a blue suit..."
Director of Investor Protection - Consumer Federation of America. Former: Crypto Adviser to Gensler SEC. House Financial Services and Senate Banking Committees.
- Missing from this story - President Trump, Larry Fink, and the entire private credit industry trying to shove these failing investments into 401(k)s before the bottom falls out of the market.
- ICI Fireside Chat with Cmsr Peirce is incoherent. She's for same activity same regulation but also against it. Exemptive authority rather than rulemaking. Wildly mischaracterizing our approach without being able to articulate what her approach would be. Very revealing. vimeo.com/1160516554/1...
- Actually we can't walk or bike past the White House anymore (a major non-car commuter artery) because of the ballroom construction. So this is false on several counts.
- Reposted by Corey FrayerWondering if people who don't live in DC get how utterly, hilariously delusional this is.
- If these were real crypto investors they would have commissioned the statue out of bitcoin, not gold.

- There's not something uniquely American about *stablecoins* There's something uniquely American about failure to invest in public infrastructure for critical services like fast payments. And then farming it out to a private firm. And then overpaying for an inferior product.

- Consumer Federation of America is hiring a Director of Competition and Market Fairness in DC. I'm coming up on my first anniversary here and I can't say enough great things about this organization. Amazing opportunity for the right person. More info here: consumerfed.org/careers/
- We need more focus on Warsh's deregulatory policies. He wants to gut bank oversight at a dangerous time in the markets, like he pushed for in 2006 before the 2008 crisis. Similar to Trump's pick for SEC Chair Paul Atkins. Arguably more dangerous than bad monetary policy. www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...

- SBF is auditioning hard for a pardon and reinventing himself as a Republican. Apparently his conversion happened in 2022 right before he got caught defrauding investors out of billions.
- Senate agriculture crypto bill passed out of committee today. Party line vote. Crypto really nuked its own momentum here - and bet the White House will frame this as a partisan attack on "Trump's Crypto Bill." Hope everyone starting to appreciate what we dealt with trying to work with these folks.
- Private Credit taking the lead in race for economic meltdown. If only the admin had the opportunity to shove these into 401(k)s like Larry Fink suggested. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
- From these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion.
- There's no way to train "I can't wait for the chance to shoot someone" out of these guys. There's no reason to assume these are panicked overreactions and not bloodlust.
- "Confrontation" and "involving"? In any other context this would be a "shooting by."

- I unequivocally want a ruling in favor of Cook/Fed I understand why they'd lean on this argument But independent monetary policy is a preference of economists not a legitimately different function from any other independent agency Lev Menand wrote on this: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
- Kudos to Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong for basically calling Trump un-American. Weird strategy, though. decrypt.co/355289/trump...
