- Thank you to all who joined us today as the Council commemorated Black History Month and Delta Day!
- Today marks the beginning of Black History Month. As the country faces so much uncertainty and the erasure and rewriting of history by the federal administration, it’s imperative that we lift up the stories and experiences of Black Americans. Black history is Maryland History. It’s American history.
- January 27th is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Today, we remember the mass murder of millions of Jews and other targeted groups who were marginalized, imprisoned, and killed by the Nazis.
- Thrilled that Long Branch has been selected as the newest Designated Main Street Maryland community by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development! As Secretary Jake Day saw during his visit, Long Branch is a diverse and active area home to many locally-owned small businesses.

- I toured the Mid-Atlantic Carpenters’ Training Center this morning to see first-hand how carpenters are refining their skills while they gain on-the-job experience. Courses and programs such as those offered at the MACTC are crucial for maintaining a highly skilled construction workforce.

- Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 34116 for hosting me as part of their discussion on finding common ground and understanding other points of view. I shared my perspective on how and why we work together to find compromises. It was a pleasure getting to speak to this group of future leaders!

- It was an honor to receive the 2025 Elizabeth and David Scull Metropolitan Public Service Award from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments at their annual meeting. The Scull Award, presented in honor of former Montgomery County Councilmembers Elizabeth and David Scull.
- Serving as Council President has been one of my greatest honors, and I’ll carry the lessons from this year with me long after my term concludes.

- Join the Montgomery County Commission on Remembrance and Reconciliation at their "Beyond the Marker: What Does Reconciliation Mean to You?" event on November 22nd. The event will give county residents an opportunity to have a real say in the future of Montgomery County's reconciliation process.
- Today we commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance. Tragically, too many Transgender people lose their lives every year due to hate-fueled violence. On November 20th, we use this day to mourn those lost over the past year and celebrate their lives and legacies.
- Thank you to all the residents and nonprofit partners who came out today. The need is great and the time to act is now. Today, the County Council acted.
- November 16th is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. As Montgomery County pursues road safety initiatives like Thrive 2050, we honor the legacy and memories of those we have lost in tragic road accidents. Pedestrian and Cyclist safety continues to be a priority for Montgomery County.
- Started this morning joining the Ashburton ES PTA and Girl Scout Troop 34164 for a food distribution! Thank you for organizing to take care of our neighbors, and thank you St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for hosting.
- The City of Rockville is joining Montgomery County in prohibiting single use plastic bags, with certain exceptions. Glad to see the city join this environmentally-conscious initiative!
