- Played Band on the Run last week and been earworming its catchiest number, Mamunia ever since.
- Back on Breaking Bad (s2) too many Walter not talking to Skylar scenes, its like Kramer v Kramer at times. Anyway Hank is a hoot. We need a real villain. (And yes, I know White is villain & hero)
- The Cure: making great records since 1978. The Grammy: Zzzzzz....2026.......lets give the Cure 2 Grammys. Utterly pointless awards.
- Happy February.
- Sitting in waiting rooms alot this last fortnight, so writing a Kafka-esque story about waiting rooms. I will struggle to reel it in under 5000 words but sometimes thats whats needed.
- Mislaid/lost latest notebook. I'm not sure how. At least one good poem in it :( Only lost one before so maybe it will turn up.
- 3 of my favourite charity shops have altered their layout recently and in each case they are not quite as good. Why do they do this?
- I feel some poetry is rectangular and some is round and I can't quite explain it. Hard v. Soft words. Mine feels mostly rectangular. Yet in prose I can write both.
- Reposted by Adrian Slatcher‘To say I was the favourite would imply I was liked’: Mark Haddon on a loveless childhood
- Great controlled team performance from Villa today. Rooting for Man U against Arsenal now!
- Funnily enough despite him going to everything in Manchester only time I met Andy Burnham was when he was cultural secretary. Our career trajectories have diverged somewhat since then.
- Has anyone seen the BBC Byron with Johnny Lee Miller? Just ordered. Surprised theres not a Byron movie franchise. His life is insane.
- 5 concerts with women lead singers.... Cocteau Twins The Bangles Amyl and the Sniffers Stereolab Snail Mail (& many more)
- Haven't concentratiin for a novel so reading these instead....
- Listening to Pirates by Rickie Lee Jones, still an all time favourite, I discovered whilst at University.
- Just read Dosteovsky White Nights, thats a highly emotional bit of early Russian existentialism. All the shivers now.
- Ive got loads of Copland on vinyl but couldnt resist this surreal cover from 1970

- Listening to @backlisted.bsky.social on Jake Thackray. He seems to need rediscovering every few years, but his original LPs are easily picked up, the Jake in a Box CD boxset a bit harder to find but worth getting.
- Started a story based on a very opaque dream I had last night, entitled "The DJ".
- First post op walk this morning to Heaton Moor, and had a coffee in the park and picked up these from Childeen's Society bookshop.
- I seem to have a lot of Violent Femmes. Now listening to Hallowed Ground, my entry point to the band, a million years ago.
- Spending alot of time with dad means I keep gleaning nuggets of memories. Todays gem, when he was invited over to the pub in Westphalia for drinks by the landlord who was ex-gestapo, whilst doing national service one xmas.
- See ya there
- Had Supertramp Hide in your shell as a constant earworm this morning . Sublime melody.
- My new album as Bonbon Experiment "Stegosaurus" was released at the weekend. 9 new vocal tracks, very varied styles, but the usual electronica! No A.I. All played/sung. bonbonexperiment.bandcamp.com/album/stegos...
- Starting the year with a big one
- Listening to That's not my name and Shut Up and Let Me Go like its 2007 or something.
