- We are calling for a vote of no confidence in the Government. There have been repeated scandals involving Labour Government ministers and the details emerging around the decision to hire Peter Mandelson are the worst so far. #noconfidence #Mandelson
- The Government has tried to block full access to the documents Surrounding Epstein and Mandelsons relationship. The Liberal Democrats are calling for a full public enquiry to compel witnesses to testify and to ensure the release of all available documents.
- This week it has become clear that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein compromised those at the very top of the British state. Now amidst rumours that Epstein may have acted as a Russian agent an enquiry is urgently needed to uncover the extent of the rot in the Labour Party.
- Santander has announced plans to close its Kirkintilloch branch. I have arranged a meeting with Lucy Rigby MP, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, to discuss the impact of this closure on Mid Dunbartonshire.
- This month I took part in a Holocaust memorial debate. I had a simple message, we must remember the horrors of the past, we must learn from them and we must stand up to them wherever they arise.
- The Government sold digital ID as a way to tackle illegal immigration. It is now being presented as the system on which our public services will run. Whatever the justification, it is clear that the money being spent would be far better used to tackle organised crime head on.
- Brexit has left Britain weaker. And with President Trump again threatening tariffs and picking fights with Europe, we cannot gamble our economy on an increasingly unpredictable White House. #Brexit #CustomsUnion #Trump
- 🍃Green energy development is the future of the North Sea - but Scotland must get a fair deal from it. That is why I have asked the Government what it will do to deliver secure, skilled jobs: building and upgrading the grid and strengthening our defence and industrial resilience.
- I’ve signed EDM 2617 in solidarity with the Iranian people and in support of justice for those facing repression. The courage shown by Iranians, from the protests after Mahsa Amini’s death to those continuing today, must be met with action.
- Over the Christmas break, I was contacted by Scottish Toastmasters to highlight the achievement of Gerry Dunn from Milton of Campsie, who has secured 2nd place in a nationwide Toastmasters speaking contest, finishing runner-up in the national final from a field of around 4,500 potential entrants.
- ⏰ My next surgery will take place at Westerton Bowling Club this Saturday 10.00 - 11.00. There's no need to book an appointment, just drop in.
- On 17 December, I wrote to the Justice Secretary, David Lammy, regarding reports that a number of young people are on hunger strike in HMP Bronzefield. Those on hunger strike are now at a critical stage. The Government must act to protect life. #Palestine #hungerstrike
- 🎉 Here is my roundup for the year! 🎄 I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!🎉
- #Brexit has failed for Britain. I recently posted, highlighting the damage done to Britain by Brexit. I noticed numerous comments spreading misinformation. I have decided to address these comments over the coming week to try and bring some clarity to this debate.
- While canvassing with @benlangmeadlibdem we came across this trip hazard. It has been reported to the council and we will be sure to have it sorted.
- #Britain and the #EuropeanUnion need a strong defence partnership! As Russia takes increasingly aggressive action against the UK, and America becomes an increasingly unreliable partner, we must stand firm with our allies in Europe.
- The #SNP have failed our communities! After years of SNP underfunding, Scotland’s 32 councils face a budget gap of £585 million. This is forcing the closure of vital public infrastructure, like public toilets, at the same time as the SNP Government has underspent by £1 billion.
- #Brexit has failed for Britain. That is why this week I joined my colleague Dr Al Pinkerton in calling on the Government to open negotiations with the European Union to establish a new customs union. It's time to face the facts. Brexit has made us poorer, wee need to fix it.
- Brexit has been a disaster. It has cost the British economy billions and is directly hitting people’s pockets. That is why this week I joined my colleague Dr Al Pinkerton in calling on the Government to open negotiations with the European Union to establish a new customs union. #EuropeanUnion
- As part of my work, I am a member of the Scottish Affairs Committee. We want to collect views from across Scotland to find out what needs raised with the Government. Digital Connectivity Survey: forms.office.com/pages/respon... High Streets Survey: forms.office.com/pages/respon...
- ⚓ The Russian spy ship Yantar is a direct threat to our security. It has been probing vital North Sea cables and pipelines and has even used high-powered lasers against RAF pilots. I’ve pressed the Government on how it will protect this infrastructure and hold Russia to account. #security
- 👨⚕️ Support for Milngavie Health and Care Centre.👩⚕️ Speaking in the budget debate this week I asked the Government to join me in writing to the Scottish Government to request that they use their increase in funding to support the creation of a health and care centre in mid Dunbartonshire.
- ⏰My next surgery will take place at William Patrick Library this Saturday 10.00 - 11.00. There's no need to book an appointment, just drop in whenever. If you can't make it, please don't hesitate to email susan.murray.mp@parliament.uk instead.
- This week I highlighted the struggles faced by young Scots. Over the past 20 years the percentage of Scottish students at Scottish universities has dropped by 15% The best way to grow our economy is to ensure we have the next generation of skilled workers and this requires education.
- 🏦 Another failed budget for young people. Last week I highlighted the financial crisis young people are facing. This week the Government has hit them once again, targeting their pension contributions. We need growth not Labour cash grabbing! #Budget2025
- Tomorrow the Government will release their budget. The Liberal Democrats have been calling for VAT cuts for hospitality to drive economic growth, restore our high streets and give the country a much-needed morale boost. #shoplocal #smallbusiness
- The renewable sector is not just about the North Sea. It's about the factories and workshops in our communities and the jobs that they can bring. That's why I asked the Government whether it will commit to supporting British manufacturing as part of our green transition. #renewables
- I recently met with representatives from across the #Scottishwhisky industry. The UK and South Korea are negotiating a new trade deal. With Korea being one of the top consumers of #Scottishwhisky any trade deal we do must put #Scottishwhisky at its heart.
- Scotland’s wind farms are being PAID to switch off… because our grid can’t handle the load. It’s already cost more than £2.1 billion this year. If the UK wants real decarbonisation, upgrading the grid has to be at the heart of our industrial strategy. Clean power only works if we can move it.

- Recently I visited the Advanced Research Centre at @uofglasgow to discuss the future of their research. The ARC is creating an environment for collaboration and co-operation which will help to ensure Scottish universities remain at the forefront of research.
- Today we honour those who gave their lives to protect our freedom. Lest we forget. #Remembrance
- Our veterans put their lives on the line to protect our country, and when things go wrong they deserve the full support they need. That’s why I spoke out against the unfair rules surrounding veteran compensation in a debate raised by Liz Jarvis MP.
- This Remembrance Sunday, we honour those from our communities and across the Commonwealth who gave everything in the service of others. Their memory reminds us of the enduring value of peace and compassion. #RemembranceDay

- Local businesses are not only the backbone of our economy but also central to building a strong sense of community. I was delighted to visit Elements, run by award-winning chef Gary Townsend, and to see first-hand the talent and dedication in our local community.
- As a member of the Menopause APPG I was delighted to highlight our work to the Health Secretary Wes Streeting. Throughout the past year i have taken part in the APPGs enquiries and have met with groups like Menopause Mandate to call for better access to menopause support and treatment.
- I have signed Max Wilkinsons Early Day Motion, highlighting the unacceptable language used by Sarah Pochin this weekend. The conduct of MPs reflects on all of us, and I believe that the Reform party must suspend the whip from Sarah Pochin to send a clear message that racism will not be tolerated.
- Our national security requires stability. This applies to everything from the components in our fighter jets to the food on our table. That is why I asked the Government for a meeting to discuss support for Scottish businesses impacted by Labours recent tax hikes. #Tax #NationalSecurity
