- Reposted by Eleonora MussinoOur article (with @mussino.bsky.social @etrappolini.bsky.social @alderotti.bsky.social & Cristina Giudici) is out in Eur J Popul 🎉 We explore how unmet childcare needs shape mothers’ fertility intentions and behaviours in Italy, across native and migrant backgrounds. 📖 doi.org/10.1007/s106...
- The COVID-19 pandemic was mainly a health crisis, but it also caused big problems for people's jobs, money, and daily lives. People may have changed their plans during this time, like delaying having children. Migrants were hit harder by the pandemic compared to Swedish-born people.
- Migrants from low-income countries living in care settings in Sweden were more likely to die from Covid-19 than natives. The finding stands out, since elderly migrants in daily care usually have higher life expectancy than Swedish-born individuals in similar circumstances. doi.org/10.1093/eurp...

- In Sweden most couples agreed not to have a(nother)child—consistent with record-low birth rates. Yet, the dynamics differed by couple composition: migrant couples were the most in sync about their fertility plans, native couples were in the middle, and native-migrant couples were the most divided.

- Reposted by Eleonora MussinoPersistent minimizing of the COVID death toll hits me especially hard in the #demography feels. To be clear: ➡️ Over one million Americans died of COVID-19. ➡️ Official COVID deaths were likely undercounted, not overcounted. jenndowd.substack.com/p/how-many-p...
