- Reposted by Jon. LylesA New Year gift - Rough-legged Buzzard along the back lanes en route to the Norfolk coast, near Gresham village. Initially hovering close overhead, drifted down into a field by the time I could safely stop. Sat for a while before departing westward. No sexy pictures. #norfolkbirding
- Four of us walked to see Snow Buntings at Pakefield / Kessingland beach Strong wind from south over 100 S B present before being put to flight by dog walker. But quite a spectacular sight when in flight.
- Two of a dozen Purple Sandpipers along rocks at Lowerstoft today also Turnstones and some Oystercatcher
- For a small reserve Summer Leys keeps giving, this distinct Marsh Harrier today and a splendid looking Buzzard earlier this week.
- Three Glossy Ibis today at Summer Leys 1 ad 2 imm, a couple of Redwings feeding on berries & Meadow Pipit numbers increasing !
- Wet for walk around Dunwich woods and shingle bank where I saw rutting Red Deer two male six hind. Not much action apart from chasing.
- Sure loads of photos of photos on blue sky but I had to so of Isabelline Shrike also a moulting Dartford warbler just behind us. Lovely warm day and showed well most of time while there. A real joy !

- Two of four Wheatear seen around net drying posts Ness Park Lowerstoft.
- I was pleased to see these M/F Black Redstart on this morning’s walk in Lowerstoft as after yesterday’s heavy rain there was not much else about !

- Lincs CP lunchtime today two Comm. Tern on groynes, Med Gull resting from wind and one Whimbrel high over.
- L.r.P, Dunlin and comm.Sandpiper from screen hide feeding around edge of exposed mud this morning
- Two birds I had wanted to see this summer and both were found at Minsmere today although a little distance. At least 6-8 of the Spotted Redshank could be found in the Black-tailed Godwit flock.

- At last some decent shots of Little Owl ! There number seems to have dropped as old Turkish style bungalows are either replaced or modernised to European taste.
- This European Roller was looking for breakfast over farmland, we cycled on another mile on to a scrumptious Turkish breakfast at the lakeside restaurant Ekin.
- A couple of Penduline Tit stripping an old nest to use building another. Heavy rain a while ago made the old one redundant.

- Fantastic boat trip to Candir harbour and back. Two Golden Orioles in song, three overhead Great spotted Cuckoo, Wood chat & Masked Shrike, 8 spur-winged Lapwing plus many other good birds to see 🤩
- Reposted by Jon. LylesThe third afternoon of our Lesvos trip was spent back at Kalloni Salt Pans and the Tsiknias River. An Isabelline/Turkestan Shrike (possibly the former) was great to watch & there was no shortage of waders. Later, both Baillon's & Little Crakes were showing by the river ford at dusk.
- A selection of pictures from our trip to Girdev today which we saw a great variety of birds two male White-throated Robin, two male Rock Thrush , Blue-rock Thrush female and a few Isabelline Wheatear also two male Snow Buntings it a shame this area is not better protected
- Lovely Osprey today (no pics ) but the Pygmy Cormorant drying out was obliging.
- More Dalyan action this morning. Manly Little Bittern with four individuals chasing about. Red-rump Swallow preening on wire. White stork decided this concrete post is his ideal site for nesting

- Reposted by Jon. LylesBased on plumage variation, we are confident there were 9+ red-footed falcons at Carlton Marshes over the last three days. 2 adult male 3 females seen hunting dragons together, with at least 4 sub-adult males.

- Reposted by Jon. LylesIt’s a seductive idea but hugely discriminatory. Some of the best birders I have ever met, particularly in the developing world, couldn’t even afford binoculars, let alone cameras, microphones, etc. This is gate-keeping based on access to expensive technology.

- Two or more Wheatear between caravan site & LincsCP this afternoon.
- Nice to catch up with one of four Cattle Egrets after searching two Yellow Wagtail a smart Stonechat but also at 12 a sp. Harrier flew across Top of Share marsh long tail-broad winged battling wind going south west only underside followed with scope. Low then high.

The female below fledged last year (details in Alt). She weighed in at a large 23.6g, gaining weight for migration & breeding condition
