Birds and all wildlife + travelling main interests
- Plenty to see near to home today, Barred Wblr at Winterton in same bush as Garden Wblr, Blackcap, Lesser & Common Whitethroats. First juv Garganey of the autumn at Strumpshaw, 3 Wood Sand at Buckenham and at least 8 Cattle Egret at Limpenhoe #birds
- Despite the dire forecast a pleasant days birding. 1st stop Walberswick for our 1st Zitter for 25 years, with a fine Little Gull too. Back on the patch 15 Ruff, 2 Dunlin, 4 Blackwit, 6 Snipe, GWE & Barn Owl. #birds
- Quiet trap last night, all the usual LBJs brightened up by these 2 beauties
- Curlew & Wood Sand on Pats' at Cley with 4 Green & 2 Common Sand, 17 Ruff, Cattle Egret, Spoonbill & Yellow Wag. At Buckenham 11 Ruff inc 4 juv, GWE but little else.
- White and Black Storks in East Anglia today, don't get that chance very often #Birds
- Some Blackwit from Snettisham tonight, the pale bird I assume is the individual we saw at Tichwell last year #Birds
- No White-rumped Sand tonight, had to leave before the Pec Sand came in, but a magical evening at Snettisham. Reams of Blackwit, Knot, Dunlin, Sanderling etc + 4 Curlew Sand & 2 Little Stint. Walked back with an amazing sunset, swarms of wader wheeling against the sky & a chorus of Turtle Doves
- Up to 30 Chalkhill Blues at Wareham Camp this afternoon + Painted Lady amongst 14sp of flutterbyes
- Eventually caught up with Norfolks Night Heron at Stiffkey today, resting with 20+ Spoonbills, also 3 Green Sands. Onto Tichwell where the Curlew Sand eventually woke up, plus a good variety of other waders + a few more Spoonbills. More Spoonbills and Green Sands at Buckenham at dusk #Birds
- Yellow-legged Gull, 3 Med Gulls, Spoonbill, 2 GWE, 96 Blackwit, 3 Ruff, 2 LRP @rspbtitchwellsnett.bsky.social this evening #birds
- Caspian Tern still at Cley today, earlier the Quail was in almost constant song at Swanton Novers #birds
- Quiet on the bird front, but as always plenty to see. Purple Emperor, Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiral best flutterbyes, a bonus Adder at Holt. Cattle Egret at Cley, Bullfinch near Guist, plenty of Blackwit at Cley & Buckenham etc
- Pleasant afternoon at Frampton, Pratincole always distant but very active. 1 yellow flagged Spotshank amongst a group of 8. Shabby Red-crested Pochard, but it could fly. Several nice Ruff, Dunlin & LRPs.

- Yesterday's Smew at Strumpshaw Fen, always distant but a pleasant mid summer surprise. Great find by @djlbirding.bsky.social #birds
- A varied day, first 100s of Silver-studded Blues at Buxton Heath, then missed the Buckenham Smew & Swallowtail at Strumpshaw. A quick trip to Lakenheath for the Caspian Tern, then back to Strumpshaw for the relocated Smew with Bitterns & Hobbies. #birds
- Better luck with the Roseate Tern at @rspbminsmere.bsky.social this afternoon. On constant view for 30+ minutes. Tawny Owl still showing, good views of Bittern #birds

- Had a lovely hour with the Cley Marsh Warbler yesterday, gave us a bit of a challenge tho. All the time Spoonbills, Great White, Little and Cattle Egrets passed overhead.

- Waited a day and a half for the fog to lift and the sun 🌞 to shine, but an hour b4 our ferry home it did and boom, 3x Glanville Fritillary manically appeared, thanks to all butterflies both local and visitors for all your help.
- Large White, Small Copper, Brown Argus, Green Hairstreak,Adonis Blue, Common Blue, Small Blue, Painted Lady, Small Tortoiseshell, Glanville Fritillary, Meadow Brown, Small Heath, Grizzled Skipper, Dingy Skipper, Large Skipper in a mist effected hunt on the IOW this weekend.
- A none birding trip on in Dorset & Isle of Wight but a few decent things seen.
- Good to catch up with the Booted Eagle today, plenty of happy faces in Norfolk 😁. Nearby my first Birds-nest Orchids for a few years. Later plenty of Little Terns at Winterton.
- Lazy day but Spoonbills, Cranes, Glossy Ibis, Little and Cattle Egrets close to home. All species I've twitched in the past as rarities!
- Enjoyed the Cley Temminck's Stints yesterday, Common Sand, 3 Knot, 3LRP + Spoonbill a good supporting cast
- Another day of not seeing the eagle 😕 but again lots of good broadland birds, including RFFs, and great company
- Whole day around Horsey and Hickling, no eagle again 🤔 but Garganey, Hobbies, Bittern, Cranes, Spoonbill, GWEs etc + more Buzzards and Harriers than you can shake a stick at and some great company.
- Gentle afternoon at Cley NWT, 2 Wood Sand, 4 Common Sand, 2 Greenshank, 6 LRP, Little Stint, 4 Dunlin, Spoonbill, GWE, 2 Wheatear, Yellow Wag, 100s of Sand Martin, plenty of Swifts,
- Great views of the Spotted Sandpiper at Grafham this lunchtime.
- One of the Falcons did the decent thing and perched up across the river in Norfolk 🤣
- 2 of the Red-footed Falcons at Carlton Marshes this afternoon. Great reserve that goes from strength to strength. Good to catch up with several birders I hadn't seen in ages

- Great afternoon at Ouse Fen, very vocal and showy Great Reed, with a supporting cast of Cranes, Bittern, Cuckoo, Hobby etc.
- Wryneck & Glossy Ibis at Cley this afternoon, Purple Heron at Carlton this morning
- Gt Yarmouth bird club meeting, Monday 28th at Caister Community Centre NR30 5ER at 7.30pm. Dawn Balmer will be talking about Monitoring Britain's Rare Breeding Birds. Bar and buffet available, all welcome.
- While Eagle hunting last night we saw this Pale-bellied Brent at Wells. Alas no eagle 😕
- The Salthouse American Wigeon this evening spent much of it's time hidden amongst the vegetation but occasionally broke cover. Also 3 Wheatear, a Whinchat & a flyover Spoonbill.
- They may originate from introductions but local Grey Partridge are always good to see.
- Inland Barwits always a pleasure. We watched this bird drop into Buckenham Marsh this lunchtime. Well picked up on call by Mark Eldridge.

- Little Owl 🦉 has become a scarce sighting locally, so was good to catch up with one this evening.
- Yesterday's drake Garganey at Buckenham, other highlights were 2 Spoonbill & a Little Ringed Plover.

- A lingering inland Sandwich Tern was a great find by John Sharpe at Whitlingham, Norwich today. Also 3 Little Gulls there. Another good inland bird was a Spotted Redshank at Buckenham, found By Jon Farooqi. Afternoon visit to Cley where our 1st 3 Wheatears of the year were on the Eye Field.
- Good to see an Osprey back at Ranworth today, 🤞 for the summer. Also 2 Cranes.
- LRP, Water Pipit, 2 Spoonbill, 2 Pintail at a windy Buckenham Marsh.
- Distant to say the least but any Mid Yare Valley Grey Plover is a good record.

- Yarmouth to Caister walk through the dunes and back along the beach only produced 1 Stonechat. A male Black Redstart on the south denes + the usual Herring x Lesser Black-back hybrid. 3 Purple Sands at Ness Point & a BlackRedstart. A few Ruff & Avocet at Buckenham for last knocking.
