Existential dread, plus crisps. Pointless bollocks I make on YouTube: youtube.com/@ill-conceivedprodu…
- This BBC Video ident from 1984 used to give me the willies. Like so many video company idents of the time, it felt cold, sterile, and slightly dystopian. Was it just me, or did it unnerve anyone else?
- youtu.be/5uLPDhCgS8M?... This still gives me a chill, 40 odd years later.
- I always associate that music with grainy 16mm of industrial unrest and the Troubles.

- The horns are unsettling by themselves, but what used to freak me out was the fact that the ident would sit on screen in silence for what felt like minutes, and then it would suddenly animate and make me jump. And it would always be very early in the morning or very late at night.
- I always liked the unexpected melancholy coda to the closing version of the jingle. Very BBC - most other companies would either not have bothered with a closing animation, or used the opening version again.

- FWIW the BBC Video ident isn't Scanimate, it's trad film animation using a rostrum camera.
