- There’s a special kind of horror in opening an old manuscript you once thought was brilliant. 😂
- What’s one thing you’d tell a writer who’s about to quit today?

- Thrilled to finally share!
- The loudest success stories distort what most publishing careers actually look like.
- #questpit if I give you a ❤️ reach out and I’ll give you my query link!
- A pass can mean “I like this, but I don’t know how to sell it.” That’s different from “this isn’t good.”
- Do you reread old work or avoid it entirely?
- Excited to be a guest speaker for an OCLS Zoom event focused on expanding your book’s reach through subsidiary rights. It's live (no recordings available) and you don't need to be a resident to tune in!
- What’s the piece of advice you ignored that turned out to be right?
- The loudest voices are not always the most informed ones.
- The Picture Book Creator Conference is literally 12.5 hours away! You don't want to miss these presentations!!
- It’s funny how often my books come back to the same themes, even when the genre changes.
- Sometimes the best thing you can do for a piece is leave it alone for a bit.
- One of my favorite books to write was FORTE MOVES TO TOWN. It's not my best seller, but it has inspired the most laughs.
- What’s something you wish you’d known earlier about writing or creating?
- Some of my best ideas arrive while I am absolutely not in a position to write them down. 🙃
- Do you write better with music, silence, or background chaos you didn’t choose?
- There is a very thin line between “thinking deeply” and “staring at the wall.”
- I am very good at giving writing advice and very bad at taking it myself.

- I’ve learned that “I’ll remember this later” is a lie I tell myself multiple times a day.
- Sometimes I catch myself rushing past good moments because I’m already worried about the next thing.
- Small joy: when a kid laughs at a picture book line exactly where you hoped they would.
- Normalize being proud of the book you wrote even if it didn’t sell the way you hoped.
- One of the strangest parts of publishing is how long something can be moving behind-the-scenes before anyone else can see it.
- I don’t need everyone to read my books. I just need the right people to find the right one.

- Someone once called me "disarming" Compliment accepted. 😌
- With the new year also comes a wave of author visits requests. If you'd like me to come to your local school, fill out the form on my website!
- I don’t have insomnia. I have “just one more email” syndrome...
- I’m joining the Orange County Library System for a virtual talk all about subsidiary rights—film, TV, audio, translation, and all the ways your book can live beyond the page. It’s live on Zoom and won’t be recorded, so snag a spot and come hang out with me!
- There are emails in my inbox right now that are making it very hard to act chill.
- Guess whaaaaaaaat? 🎶 I just closed a licensing deal with Musicplay! My books are officially joining their curriculum, which makes my former music teacher heart so incredibly happy.
- I love this industry. I would also love a nap that lasts three business days.
- Currently living in one of the five hoodie dresses my husband got me for Christmas. If I’m not wearing one, I’m probably too cold to function.
- I'm really struggling with the balance between being informed and being mentally okay-ish. 😞
- Between prepping for this month’s author visit and the Picture Book Creator Conference, the "precarious tower of life" is definitely leaning. If the only writing progress today was thinking about a plot point while hunting for a lost shoe, call that a win.
- On pins and needles waiting for my agent to tell me if my newest manuscript is ready for sub. It doesn't matter how many books you’ve published; that feeling never goes away.
- Reposted by Vicky Weber - Agent, Author, Educator 📚Hi #KidLitArtPostcard day! - In the past, my new years resolutions were usually striving for things that were out of my control. Now, I try to pick smaller things that will make a day-to-day difference in my life instead. Still trying to pin down what this year's will be though.
- Ahhh okay it’s happening!! Very excited to announce that my 2026 coaching calendar is OPEN for writing coaching & AMA calls 🥳 Comment or DM for the 🔗
- Every step forward, even if it’s just a tiny one, is going to get you closer to finishing your book. It’s not about being perfect from the start; it’s about being intentional with the time you do have.
- There’s this misconception that to be an author, you have to write 1,000 words every single day. The reality is that the average person with a job and a family just can’t do that. And honestly? I don't expect that of you. I certainly can't do it!
