- Does your child have dyspraxia/DCD? 🧠⚖️ We’re researching why balance can be difficult and how the brain responds when balance is lost. Manchester-based study, one 2-hour visit. 📩 If interested, email G.Warlop@mmu.ac.uk for more details (or comment below😊). Full details 👇

- Reposted by Johnny ParrMost (72%) people with dyspraxia report high anxiety about falling – yet they’re not even mentioned in fall prevention guidelines.
- People with dyspraxia are at high risk of falling – and it’s too often overlooked: theconversation.com/people-with-... An article in @uk.theconversation.com which summarises our latest findings
- So happy our latest study is finally published! We show that falls are a major issue across the lifespan for individuals with DCD (i.e., Dyspraxia). Developmental Coordination Disorder: A Hidden Epidemic of Falls journals.humankinetics.com/view/journal... Key findings 👇
- Falls are far more common in DCD compared to typically developing (TD) individuals. • 26% of DCD adults fall 1–2 times per month (vs 3% TD). • 55% of children with DCD fall 1–2 times per week (vs 23% TD).

- DCD-UK was excellent as always! Such a great community of researchers, practitioners, and those with lived experience!
- Highlight reel from @ispgr.bsky.social 👇🏻 Had such a great time sharing our research and catching up with these awesome people!
- 🚨 Post-Doctoral Researcher Required 🚨 12-month position using EEG to explore the cortical control of balance recovery in children with and without Developmental Coordination Disorder. Advert below! manmetjobs.mmu.ac.uk/jobs/vacancy...

- Is PowerPoint still the go-to for making conference posters, or is there something better these days? Been a while…
- Can prosthetic hand control and acceptance be influenced by personality? The tendency to engage in conscious control (Reinvestment) is seemingly associated with worse outcomes for prosthetic hand users. Great new study from our amazing PhD student! www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
- Reposted by Johnny ParrWhy is recovering from a loss of balance sometimes harder when we overthink it? In our new EEG study (now out in Jneuro!), we show that consciously controlling balance dampens the cortical response to a sudden loss of balance (and balance gets worse)! www.jneurosci.org/content/44/4...
- Blue sky: the intentions feel good but in truth it seems to suck compared to twitter. Am I wrong?

- Reposted by Johnny ParrFirst 'proper' post here (and a lazy quote repost at that :D). New paper published in J Neuroscience. Here we explore the neural mechanisms underpinning the paradoxical decreases in stability that occur when people try to consciously control balance. www.jneurosci.org/content/44/4...
