- God, I know I'm a sucker and it's kind of a scame these days but ... Record Store Day 2026 seems designed to purposely torture me, personally. I am DROOLING.

- Blur's The Ballad of Darren really is a gorgeous album, isn't it? I feel like it gets slept on because it's so low-key. It's the least hit-singley, and probably the least musically varied of all of their albums, but there's so much soul on it. As much of a classic Blur album as any, I think.
- Speaking as a journalist who has worked as a fact-checker and is trained to spot bad faith takes and language that swerves cleverly around invconvenient facts ... that blog being hailed as "Good Journalism" sure does contain a lot of bad journalism.
- 'Bildungsroman’ is a great word. It sounds like a South African describing Italian architecture
- Some Tuesday reading for you. Did you know Smashing Pumpkins put out a vinyl-only, full album at the end of last year? Billy Corgan has done precisely ONE (1) interview about it. And it was with me! A proper deep dive music feature of which I'm very proud: louderthanwar.com/smashing-pum...
- Reposted by Marc BurrowsBeing a journalist is sick: I just contacted a pre-eminent jaguar conservationist in Argentine with a question that has been weighing on me for ages and he wrote back right away with an informed answer.
- Finally saw Bone Temple. What a THUNDERINGLY good film. I love it when you sit down in a cinema and from one moment to the next you have no clue where the story is going to go, what it's going to look like or how it will make you feel.
- I think, on balance, I preferred the first 28 Weeks, it's more of a tone piece, but there's not much in it. An extraordinary couple of films. Ralph Fiennes best work? Best use of Iron Maiden as a needle drop ever? My god, I can't wait for the next one.
- Also, I'll bet good money that the original draft of the script had "How's about that then?" instead of "HOWZAT".

- The Traitors makes me really, really wish TV Burp was still on. Can you imagine how good it would be?

- The new He-Man film actually looks sort of great, and appropriately camp. But I'm extremely annoyed that it's ruined a very sold joke from my stand up set.
- I legit think this looks great.
- Reposted by Marc BurrowsTrump’s Board of Peace logo is basically the UN logo, except dipped in gold and edited so the world only includes America.
- I saw someone on here mention that "quiet" and "quietly" as a semantic extension ("quietly building trust with communities", "creating a quiet revolution")was a red flag for AI-written copy. I use that quiet a lot. Since I love emdashes too, I'm beginning to suspect ChatGPT is trained on me.
- Okay, my main takeaway from The Seven Dials is that we need to stop trusting Chris Chibnall with beloved British properties. At this rate he's going to redevelop Hampton Court as a Quaser Laser.
- The James stuff being used as evidence against him is WILD. He tried to secretly take a shield that wouldn’t otherwise have been used even though it took money from the pot. *Only* a faithful would do that. It completely exonerates him. #TraitorsUK
- Honestly, this timeline is completely insane.
- Reposted by Marc Burrows“The song sunk into culture, like a moisturizer sinks into skin. It no longer belongs to its creators. Within weeks it belonged to, well, Christmas.” Loved this quote in @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk book “The Story of the Christmas No.1: Mistletoe & Vinyl”. I feel a similar way about this book

- Reposted by Marc BurrowsMuppets comedy doesn’t require a huge production budget. It also doesn’t have to be cranked to 11 to deliver solid comedy beats *if* you can deliver them through strongly defined characters. You can watch this & instantly know & laugh at these character types in a sketch...
- My favourite late-70s Bowie album is Iggy Pop's The Idiot. And it's not even close.
- I had a lovely chat with Nick Knowles for @bigissue.com about the importance of community and DIY SOS. www.bigissue.com/culture/tv/d...
- One last night of cosy glow then
- Reposted by Marc Burrows#177 Nirvana: A Detailed Guide to the Band That Changed Everything by @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk This is one of the most oddly formatted books I've ever read. It is a day-by-day timeline of Nirvana from Kurt Cobain's first ever demo recording in 1986 to his death in 1994. However, that /1

- Finally saw the new Naked Gun, which I enjoyed. Afterwards I flicked over to BBC One and caught the last 15 mins of ‘Dennis Procter: The Ten Year Old Doctor’, which was EXACTLY as funny in exactly the same way, on a fraction of the budget.
- The Bake Off christmas cast is wild. One of them won an oscar, one of them married into the royal family and one of them once stayed in a Travelodge with me after we both died on our arses at a weird gig in Kings Lynn.

- For people who claim that non-gendered language is awkward to use ... go read A Christmas Carol and tell me the gender of the Ghost of Christmas Past. People have been reading it for 180 years and it never jarred.
- Reposted by Marc BurrowsI'm currently half way through Marc Burrows' (who's hopefully doing an episode with us soon!) excellent book on Christmas Number Ones. Its brilliant. Really funny, very informative & mega christmassy. Its currently only 99p on Amazon so go buy a copy and get Marc the well deserved Xmas number 1!
- Okay, I need your help. If everyone buys my book on Kindle today (for 99p), it could push it back to number one on the Music chart and I'd HAVE A CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE. I would really, really, really like that for Christmas. 99p! www.amazon.co.uk/Story-Christ...
