- They're seeking a $1.5 trillion valuation for the combined SpaceX / xAI IPO. If you assume they want to avoid banks in the UK and France since xAI is possibly going to be banned there, the complete list of non-US banks capable of handling a trillion dollar IPO is UBS and Deutsche Bank and that's it.

- But also, there is probably no major bank in the world with a stronger track record of being willing to work with literally anyone.
- 1. Noam Chomsky's response to the first tranche of Epstein docs - arrogant, high-handed, obfuscatory and, we now know, dishonest - reminded me of something: his response to my questions about genocide denial, 15 years ago. 🧵 www.monbiot.com/2012/05/21/2...

- An exchange from CA5 oral arguments today: Lawyer: Okay. I feel awkward walking away with some time, but I'm not going to waste your time. Court: We feel grateful when you walk away. Lawyer: I should have done it a little earlier. Court: It's a sign of assurance. Thank you.

View full threadI remember one time where I had reserved time for rebuttal, but the panel spent the entire time my opponent was talking just eviscerating their position so hard that when my rebuttal time came I just said "if the Court has no further questions I'll yield." Fun feeling.
- I have sat in court waiting for my turn, watched the same thing happen, and then watched in horror at the slow motion car crash of the second lawyer snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It’s so important to learn to read the room and just shut up sometimes.

- It’s not hard, but it’s worth looking for a class to learn the basics. Sewing is a wonderful skill and fun craft.
- I second this. My wife did a class that was like 3 hours once a week for 4 weeks, and it really helped. Also, you don’t need to go high end, but it helps to get something decent. The really cheap ones seem finicky in a way that makes them not fun to use.

- I moved out of litigation before the rise of LLMs, and I can’t imagine how bad it is now. I used to see 200-page pro se complaints, but 195 pages would be poorly-scanned pdfs of entire websites they printed off.
- I litigated a complaint drafted by an actual, respected lawyer one time that was something like 1000 paragraphs over 700 pages. There is no need for a complaint like that.
