If you buy Pokémon card packs for hopes on a dollar value rather than you enjoy collecting/trading Pokémon cards, that's like Scientology for kids. Except you're an adult.
Seriously, any activity for children turned into a profit margin is weird and gross.
Is it okay if I *rationalize* my big game purchases by thinking "it's also an investment?" I mean, I don't buy them FOR that. I'm just trying to make it sound not ridiculous that I'm spending as much on old games as... it really is kinda ridiculous.
This is legit, though. I never purchased any tcg as specifically an investment, but I still made thousands when I eventually cut ties and sold it all off.
And if you know that extra sealed booster box will be worth more in a couple years if you don't open it... what's wrong with that?
Feb 3, 2026 08:03Just hoarding stuff to hopefully make a profit later when someone would rather have that thing now to use is shitty.
