- 🧠 As the world changes, we need to adapt our thinking about the potential for democracy beyond the nation state. 📘 Excited to share this new open access article in International Theory! ❓️In it, I ask: How can we think about democracy when governing happens in informal, transboundary networks?

- 🤷 In such loose forms of governance, norms guiding joint action are inevitably interpreted and enacted in multiple, even conflicting ways. 📚 I engage with different pluralist theories to explore how we can embrace this diversity rather than stifling it through ostensibly democratic institutions
- 🌎 Using the example of humanitarian assistance in Southeas Asia, I show how the notion of agonistic engagement can help us grapple with the democratic quality of governance networks.
- The Doctoral researchers in our Horizon MSCA network on The International Dimensions and Effects of Populism kicked off their coursework this week, with none other than Cristóbal Rovira Kaltwasser as inaugural guest lecturer!

- Reposted by Kilian SpandlerSo once again, the narrative is more complicated than Vance bad, EU good. Vance most certainly is bad. But the case for the EU is arguable, given its adoption of the far-right's agenda on migration and its willingness to ignore many of Meloni's excesses in return for "good behavior" on Ukraine.
