UNGRIPP
UNGRIPP campaigns on behalf of everyone affected by the Indeterminate Sentence for Public Protection (IPP) in England and Wales.
- This week @UNGRIPP launched the IPP Constituency Map—a vital tool to expose the scale of the IPP sentence scandal across the UK 📍 Enter your postcode 📈 See the concern in your area 📧 Email your MP directly Add your name here: 👉 www.ungripp.com/campaign/ipp...
- The IPP sentence was abolished in 2012, but for thousands of families, the sentence has never ended. Yesterday, we are bringing the reality to the doorsteps of power. We are launching the IPP Constituency Map live from our exhibition in David Lammy’s constituency.
- IPP License Changes become Law. Yesterday, the Sentencing Act 2026 officially received Royal Assent and became law. While the government still refuses to "re-sentence" everyone on an IPP, they have shortened the license length further. Here are the three critical changes that have been made:
- Come paint with us. Every pebble painted represents a person who has lost their lives whilst serving the IPP sentence. Please email and highlight to your local MP. We are going to be In the heart of David Lammy’s constituency. Everyone is welcomed. Time to end the torture of IPP. #Resentence IPP’s.

- 1. We invite all those effected by the IPP sentence, especially families, along with the general public to our IPP exhibition event. You can come along and paint a pebble in memory of those who have died and for the forgotten Women and Men still languishing away on this sentence.
- 1, IPP Update: The Sentencing Bill moves to the Commons On the 12th January the Sentencing Bill was agreed by the House of Lords and has been passed back to the House of Commons for the next stage. The only amendment to be included is Lord Timpson’s (see photo attached)
- Yesterday, the Lords debated ending the IPP injustice. Only Lord Timpson's amendments progressed, but we owe a massive thank you to the Peers who stood up for everyone affected by IPP. Watch: vimeo.com/1152150338?s...
- Next week, the Lords debate the Sentencing Bill. Some amendments may be dropped early, and most won’t pass without pressure. Please contact your local MP and urge them to ask James Timpson and David Lammy to support all amendments. Below is the our amendment table.
- @annadixonmp.bsky.social well done for getting this taken seriously. 1 step at a time. This is great news for Jimmy and his family. Let’s hope that they will be back together soon. We urge other MP’s to follow Anna Dixon MP example and pressure the Government to finally end IPP.
- 1, Thank you to Lord Woodley, Lord Thomas, Lord Moyan, Lord Blunkett, Lord Hope, Baroness Bennett, Baroness Jones, Baroness Ludford, Lord Berkeley, Lord Sentamu, Lord Marks, Lord Keen for speaking on behalf of IPP’s in the sentencing review reading in the house of Lords.

- Well done to Jimmy’s family in getting this raised and receiving a direct answer from the PM and a massive thank you to @annalouisedixon MP for highlighting the ongoing struggle and fight of the IPP sentence. Only an appropriate resentencing process will end this trauma.
- Follow the link below for today’s sentencing bill reading in the House of Lords that may include IPP. The reading starts at 2:30pm. parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/20… There is a continuation on Wednesday afternoon so if IPP is not mentioned today then it will be on Wednesday.
- 1. Next week, the House of Lords will debate the Sentencing Bill, featuring several amendments aimed at addressing the injustice of the IPP. While these amendments are vital, we must be realistic.
- Thank you to the Peers who spoke yesterday. Thank you Lord Beith, Lord Hailsham, Baroness chakrabati, @greenjennyjones.sky.social, Baroness Fox, Lord Moylan, Lord Woodley, Baroness Maclean, Lord Hastings, Lord Thomas, Lord berkeley, Lord Marks, Lord Keen www.theyworkforyou.com/lords/?id=20...
- From Nov 3rd HMPPS began a 6-month pilot for people recalled on an IPP/DPP sentence. We’ve made an easy-read version to explain what this means. We don’t want to raise false hope as it’s unlikely to make much difference. The only true solution is resentencing. #UNGRIPP

- It’s shameful & shocking that given what I've gone through & how huge the campaign to bring me home was, & the Government acknowledge the injustice of my experience, still they do not recognise what's going on at home. Nazanin Zachary-Ratcliffe speaking at the Labour Conference 2025 #endipp
