- Reposted by Samuel Bennett❌ Let's stop dividing migrants into 'good' vs. 'bad' Racism and ableism dictate who is seen to fulfil the criteria of the “good migrant” versus the “bad migrant”, and by extension dictate who is deemed “deserving” of rights and respect, and who is deemed “unworthy”. - Agreed, and this is why I think the super rich are very useful for lots of people as a reference point (or guilt release valve?) who can point to them and say: 'I'm not rich, THEY'RE rich'.

- Seriously, fuck Starmer and his hideous, ghoulish cabinet. From this grim decision to Streeting's anti-trans shit, they're just full of spite for vulnerable people. I truly hope they get wiped out at the next election and that the UK gets a proper progressive party in power(sharing?).
- This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
- Reposted by Samuel Bennetti wasn't gonna post about it but seeing that a LOT of people have declared UA's run with steph curry to be a failure and I think the total opposite I guess I should. look everybody, signature basketball shoes are a vestigial remnant of when hoop shoes—current hoop shoes—were the top of the market

- Communication is key to any good relationship. For example, if you're going to start cleaning the kettle with citric acid, tell your husband first, before he makes a cup of tea...
- Reposted by Samuel BennettI'll say it again. Our horror at the Gaza genocide and at the atrocity in Manchester comes in both cases from the same, inherent part of our shared humanity. We need to assert that shared humanity in the face of both these evils as loudly as possible, and in as many practical ways as we can.
- I don't really like promoting my own work much on social media, feels strange. But if anyone's interested in Labour's approach to integration (which has not changed in a generation), I would suggest my first book. www.bloomsbury.com/uk/construct...
- Labour looking at Reform's racist policies and saying "we"ll have some of that". These aren't just discriminatory, by making migrants meet higher standards than the average person, they automatically treat migrants as if they are criminals on community service. #r4today www.bbc.com/news/article...
- I would also recommend @kamrank.bsky.social's book, which looks at the ESOL part in more detail. www.bloomsbury.com/uk/becoming-...
- Looking back at both books, what's clear is that Labour today has nothing new to say about immigration. The shadow of Blair's 'third way' has hollowed out the party of any strongly held set of ideals, and on immigration in particular they are reactive to media narratives of confected crises

- Last Monday I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. I was discharged yesterday. The story of me and my heart is a long, complicated one but 21 July 2025 is an inflection point.
- During recent months & esp. the last days, my wife has been my rock, as well a source of support to other family members. I don't know how, but she found the time & desire to make this amazing piece to give to the cardio surgery and transplant clinic that looked after me so well. My wife is awesome.
- I was given a mechanical valve called ON-x, in light of which I have nicknamed my valve 'bacdafucup'. 90s hip-hop lovers should enjoy this at least.
