Resisting AI is in OUR hands!
This is the way (for me). Piloted it with my graduate seminar this semester. I've been marking reading responses by hand, returning them the following session. Unlike what i had been doing for my whole career, which was feeling like i had to mark immediately and return through Canvas.
Allow me to add my 2 cents. Although I fully agree with you and have been cautioning the outcomes of AI ON academia and IN academia (not only there but let's focus for a second), young non tenured scholars cannot resist faculty demands. Not only do scholars are being hastened to write
I hear you and deeply sympathise. That's why I am writing a book to try and challenge this. Se ior scholars have a responsibility yo try and shape the debate, since junior scholars are put in an impossible position.
Oct 22, 2025 20:48Thank you so much Nick. It is indeed of the utmost importance. Unfortunately for me it is too late. As a scholar, I have tried to engage only in serious research, as I perceive it, rather than duplicate myself time and time again. It has cost me my position 😔
