Design took a practical wrong turn when people thought (or were taught?) that turnarounds are the best way to create characters.
You’ll be doing yourself a favor if you conjure your characters moving. Doing the things they do.
And an even bigger favor if you can doodle them quickly.

The characters you draw, for comics or animation, should come easily off your pen. In a natural mode of drawing that already fits you.
You should love drawing them.
