- Reposted by Ingo E. IsphordingI appreciate the WSJ following up on this story, which is already in danger of being one of many forgotten scandals in elite academia.

- Reposted by Ingo E. IsphordingAt Our World in Data, we spend much of our time counting deaths. But it’s just as important to know the number of lives saved — even though it is harder to estimate and involves much larger uncertainty. My Data Insight today includes this chart of some estimates.
- Reposted by Ingo E. IsphordingIt's fantastic that the network is saved. But IZA as an institute closing down is still a tremendous loss
- I am super happy about the IZA network and DP series having found a new home at @liser.lu . Having visited in the past, I think LISER is the kind of place IZA could (and should ) have been. I wish them all the best!
- Yet, I am still extremely sad about IZA's main assets - the institute itself, its postdoc program, it's Berlin and Bonn campus, the guest program and the workshop series - being cancelled. It remains a big loss.

- Reposted by Ingo E. IsphordingToday, the German Federal Election Officer released data on voting by age and gender for the 2025 election. Contrary to popular belief, AfD support is still not strongest among the youngest voters, but rather among the middle-aged (males). Support is also still much lower in older cohorts. (1/3) 🧵
- Does anyone else observe increasing bullshitting with ChatGPT? I use it extensively to summarize research papers, but in several occasions over the past weeks, it just hallucinates a completely different paper than the one I provide, even if I ask several times. I did not notice this before.

- Reposted by Ingo E. IsphordingAcademia is cool because if you're doing it right, every paper you published in the last 3 years feels inadequate now that you understand the topic better, but it'll take 3 years to get out the version where you get it more right, and you get to do that until one day you die! Isn't that cool
