- Shit like this sounds smart, but it’s coming from the same guy who “discovered” the “attention economy”, wrote a book & made a lot of money from it, whilst also being… checks notes… one of the prominent gang of people creating & sustain said attention economy. I.E. let’s think a bit deeper, yeah?!

- Reposted by NaughtSpitballing/bargaining stage of grief: A “Washington Banner” outlet, spun off the successful Baltimore Banner and taking advantage of its backend, built out of laid off Washington Post Metro and Sports staffers and funded via a mixed nonprofit and subscription model…
- Reposted by Naught"Those who were laid off include Caroline O’Donovan, the Post’s beat reporter covering Amazon"
- This is also the exact same playbook as the Ellisons and CBS News, obviously.
- I also tend to agree with this. The most powerful version that Bezos could create is a newspaper which is supplicant to the things he cares about (his money), and retains the banner of a prestige, institutional paper that The Post once was. That sheen will fade eventually. But is a shield for now.

- I’m on the same page as Larry. I’ve come to the conclusion that resignation culture in the UK is performative theatre, with all sides acting their part. The villain, and the outraged. It’s a farce, designed to retain power, control, and the status quo.

- Reposted by NaughtFor reference you could cover the entire operating loss of WaPo last year for approximately the cost of the Melania movie, which bezos funded

- I agree with all of this, and also believe that none of it will happen…

- Reposted by NaughtBezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests
- Reposted by NaughtTo reiterate re previous RTs, it was considered a good investment to pay $40m to Melania Trump’s production company to acquire a documentary that would certainly lose money even if it was a “success,” and another $35m a year later to market it. And it barely crawled over $7m on opening weekend.

- Reposted by NaughtNew from 404 Media: the FBI has been unable to get into the iPhone of raided Washington Post journalist because the phone had Lockdown Mode enabled. Apple markets Lockdown Mode mostly to stop spyware like NSO. Here, a real world example of it stopping access too www.404media.co/fbi-couldnt-...
