Substack has this weird reader feature now… having this passage read back to me with a stranger’s voice made me really consider my life choices up till now.
repeatedly telling my good friend stephen holyday that the reason i can't hang out is because there "isn't a place for me to park near your place" had unintended consequences.
There are many reasons for isolation and loneliness in the contemporary age. These have been examined, in depth, by people far more qualified than suburban councillors in seminal works like Bowling Alone.

In celebration and appreciation of all the folks who came out to support the reintroduction of neighbourhood retail last year, @joshmatlow.bsky.social and I are hosting a (free!) movie night at City Hall on Thursday, February 19. Here's the trailer for the doc, Changing Lanes.
Tear gas is banned in international warfare, yet classified as a “riot control agent” that law enforcement can use for crowd control.
“It just doesn’t work well, and it hits the weakest people the most, and causes the most complications in them,” an anesthesiology professor at Duke University said.
The people who think like this know the system—they have the means and connections. But you can learn! Recently put my name in and was selected to sit on the Local Advisory Committee for the West Annex Heritage Conservation District. Or join a group like @moreneighboursto.bsky.social.

- "Every Day is Exactly the Same" Nine Inch Nails
Any other suggestions? I don't want to do "Friday I'm in Love".
