- My previous neighbors spent lots of time/money having four large trees removed from their yard, and the new neighbors who just moved in rolled up this morning with a crew of landscapers to plant four new trees in that same yard. There's a joke/metaphor in there somewhere.

- Reposted by Jessie BaxterWe're going to be in movement for the rest of our lives, there's a world to win & so much between us and freedom. How do we make struggle sustainable? So ask yourself, what is the best use of my skills and resources. Limit yourself to that work, because you can't be everywhere.
- This bill would be a huge deal for me and many of my neighbors. Local pals, please voice your support for transit equity via Massachusetts House Bill H.3638!

- Reposted by Jessie BaxterWhat Robert Redford contributed to American films via Sundance is genuinely immeasurable. He was also an extraordinarily talented director--Ordinary People and Quiz Show are two of the best American studio movies of their eras--and an actor who somehow wore his incredible charisma almost shyly. RIP.
- Very sad for Robert Redford’s family and friends, but scrolling through all the posts with old photos of one of the hottest men to ever grace the screen is a real consolation for the rest of us.

- In line for the Rilo Kiley show (eeee!), which is right next to the My Chemical Romance show, and it is a real battle of the vibes situation out here.
- Was hoping a West Side Story-style stand off between the red heads in skinny jeans and the goths in fishnet tights would break out, but alas.

- Reposted by Jessie BaxterBad film: Atrocious, indefensible, schlock. Bad film, but you first watched it with your best friend when you were 15: Hidden gem, awful but in a good way, actually kinda smart if you think about it.
- Husband started reading The Hobbit with the older kiddo this week and they’re currently at the Gollum chapter. I can hear him doing the voices and she is clearly *locked in* and I’m pretty sure this is his nerdy fatherhood dream perfectly realized, it’s very cute.
- Reposted by Jessie BaxterTaylor Swift and Travis Kelce are getting married. Good for them. I'm sure everyone will be rational about this.
- Reposted by Jessie BaxterI mean…
- After seeing Blue Valentine (lol you see where this is going) I got into a heated debate with my boyfriend about whether love is enough for a relationship and if we believed in soulmates — hoooo boy were neither of us prepared for the stark differences of opinion we had on these matters!
- That convo genuinely was a real turning point in our 2 year relationship at the time, and the fallout was months long and full of angst. Epilogue: we’ve been happily married for 12 years. No, I still don’t believe in soulmates. Yes, he still insists he is mine. We still haven’t rewatched the film.

- Reposted by Jessie BaxterMy personal opinion is that everyone should be alarmist about everything the conservative movement is saying and planning and attempting right now. Be extremely alarmist about fascism. Be very alarmed about White Christian Nationalism. It is an absolutely appropriate reaction.

- Emerson College was basically ground zero for the east coast indie twee scene, so you might imagine how a pre-release screening of Juno went over with an audience full of 18-19 year olds who were essentially the real life versions of Diablo Cody characters.

- “Until I get into office, I don’t have a specific plan.” 😐
- I can’t stop thinking about the fact that, when asked a softball Q about a best recent arts/culture experience in Boston, he 1) couldn’t initially answer it, and then when pressed by the moderator, he 2) named a music venue that closed 20 years ago. Like…you can’t even fake an MFA visit, my dude??
- I cannot even begin to describe my excitement about this lineup, it is unreal.
- Social Deviance, which really shaped the way I think about all kinds of things, from disability, to haircuts, to punk music. One of the few classes where I still have the books all these years later!
- Saw a mom from my kid's school at NFF this past weekend and am trying to formulate the best non-creepy/weird way to reach out and say, "Can we please be friends?" Being an introvert is a constant trial.
- Now that I have good cell service again, I do feel people deserve to know that Kim Deal played both Cannonball and Gigantic during her solo set at Newport Folk today and I told my daughter she had to woo loudly for both.

- My 2yo just looked closely at a dollar bill for the first time and the following convo ensued: - 2yo: Why is that boy just standing there? - Me: That's George Washington, he was our first president. - 2yo: [long pause, considering] George Washington is very beautiful, but he isn't doing anything.

- My 5yo calls records “credits” for some reason — as in, “let’s listen to music on the credit player” — and neither my husband or I have the heart to correct her because her accidentally cute misnomers are fewer and farther between these days.
