- Reposted by Kate FloodToday is International Sex Workers' Day. The criminalization of sex work increases the risk of harm to sex workers -- including harm from arrest, jailing, conviction, stigmatization, violence, and exploitation. Sex work should be decriminalized.
- You know it is garbage straight out the gate when 1. Tony Blair says it, and 2. He describes patients as "customers"
- This angered me even at the time. I was still at the NHS then, as was another housemate, and inevitably Covid came into our home multiple times, early, before tests were available. We'd enough exposure to anecdotally attribute then-unlisted symptoms to Covid but thousands of people did not, and died
- Good to see @zackpolanski.bsky.social on BBC News this morning, refusing to cave in to a line of questioning, calling it absurd & holding the line - and being explicit about genocide in Palestine on a panel where another person claimed starvation is an "understandable" tactic by Israeli government
- Solidarity between public sector workers is strong; workers in e.g. education or healthcare want the public sector to rise together. The govt knows every public sector worker is vital; this is divide and rule; coordinated industrial action is the only way forward www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

The scholarships include: tuition fee waiver, £19,550 allowance, return trip to & from the UK. Eligibility details & further info at link👇🏽 www.gold.ac.uk/fees-funding...
- ICB shrinkage will mean service cuts. Unions were not consulted, and that's the red flag. Industrial action & union activity will also be stifled as focus shifts from working conditions to job retention. Health service workers & health service users (many people are both) will pay the price. Again
- "It’s very emotional for me because I am very much part of a community" except when it comes to paying taxes towards health and social care, transport, roads, sanitation, sewage, clean water, emergency services, the welfare system, public parks, libraries, schools, hospitals, housing, pensions,
- someone is playing movin too fast from their balcony and a group of kids in the primary school are shouting along to it with the type of energy that could save london's night scene
- Big show of solidarity at the emergency Downing St demo tonight. Israel broke ceasefire to strike & kill over 400 in Gaza overnight; the Israeli blockade denies even the most basic supplies to more than 1 million Palestinian children. In our millions, in our billions We Are All Palestinians 💖🇵🇸

- As pension age climbs, life expectancy stagnates. It's a real danger that entire adulthoods are given to work with no opportunity to chill after a life grafting. Everyone deserves to finish work in good personal and financial health, to enjoy a decent retirement www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

- Finally getting round to this by @garethdennis.bsky.social and so far, literally so good. Not just for including a Chico Mendes quote less than 4 pages in, but for doing what many still fail to do - link climate struggle to trade unionism and class struggle, and in a way that respects its reader
- An important dimension to this, aside from fact it is blatant union victimisation loophole or otherwise - when workers inform an employer "I'm not in a union" what they actually do is paint a target on their back as someone who both *splits the bargaining unit* and *doesn't have union protection*
- Retail workers should not have to face abuse at work; consumers should not be so stretched by scarcity or precarity they've to risk arrest just to live. Maybe these major retailers could prevent this by... not consistently hiking prices, on the back of a crisis they have invented, just to fleece us
- Rest in peace Clemenza you beautiful plush, when you were adopted into our house you were so sick I thought you only had like 3 months left in you, but you rallied like a champion and spent 3 and a half years being weird and wonderful and making everyone fall in love with you 💖

- Nothing says "work ethic" like refusing staff a real living wage so you can duck out with the profits & go travelling 💖 (UK workers do approx 2 hrs more per week than EU avg while CEOs work just 38 hrs to amass the average annual income of a full-time worker) www.independent.co.uk/business/bre...

- It is a grim, shameful statistic that 1 in 10 workers in Britain skip a meal each day. This is a political choice. Successive governments and employers are to blame. Not your neighbour, your fellow worker or someone born overseas. Bosses & politicians caused this www.theguardian.com/business/202...
- This is a great statistic - I use the Elizabeth line a lot, particularly for work, and it is so useful. It does also leave a sour taste (and Londoners are not to blame for this, before anyone suggests it) that transport infrastructure elsewhere in rural and northern England remains so inadequate

- Mick Lynch - like the @rmtunion.bsky.social more broadly - engages so many workers into the movement, and galvanises trade unionists across all sectors. What a comrade and what a legacy www.rmt.org.uk/news/retirem...
- Keen to find accounts for specific workplace branches, alongside individual trade unionists - please tag them so I can add to this starter pack. The workplace, but also your branch, is where you challenge union bureaucracy - sometimes as big a fight as those taking place on the shop floor
