- Reposted by Rebecca SharkeyBrilliant to hear how local campaigners successfully stopped the building of a dual carriageway right down the middle of Rimrose Valley Country Park in Sefton. Now, thanks to @rimrosevalley.bsky.social it's teeming with wildlife and walking and cycle paths for everyone to enjoy. Have you visited?
- Reposted by Rebecca SharkeyThe victim blaming of people walking or cycling and injured or killed in road collisions is off-the-charts shocking. It seems motor normativity is so ingrained that people desperately clutch at the language of “accidents” or worse just blame the victims.

- Reposted by Rebecca SharkeyLet’s shift the narrative: focus on drivers — with better legislation, clearer guidance and stronger communication — so harm isn’t normalised or dismissed as “cycling is risky”. It’s long past time to prevent harm, not explain it away. Less victim-blaming.

- Reposted by Rebecca SharkeyIt’s match day, so of course any Street in Stretford without residents parking becomes an unofficial match-day car park. Appears that those drivers too selfish to pay for parking are also the type to block pavements with their cars. Who’d have thought it 🤷

- Reposted by Rebecca Sharkey⚠️Registrations of the most commonly-sold pick-up trucks have nearly doubled in just over a decade! 📈Our new analysis has found a major increase in the number of large, US-style pick-up trucks on UK roads over the past decade - with serious implications for pedestrian safety, particularly children.
- “The driver might have spent an hour in the gym or eating organic but all those health gains would have been wasted – and reversed – by idling their engine, poisoning both themselves and everyone around them.”

- Reposted by Rebecca SharkeyCommenting as Govt launch a road safety strategy. Every death on our roads is unacceptable. We need a Vision Zero ethos: no deaths or serious injury. Change driving culture, reject speeding, use speed-limiting tech, strengthen sentences, end ‘accident’ language. Driving is a privilege, not a right.
- Reposted by Rebecca SharkeyWe've all seen the before-and-after photos of Amsterdam and Paris - but we have our own examples to show how Liverpool is progressing away from gridlock and pollution, towards streets that are vibrant, welcoming and safe for everyone. More of this sort of thing please!
