- Wondering if anyone has any idea. I bought a smart led panel (it's not that smart), but it allows dimming. But only through a SmartThings app. And I had to connect it with an outdated SmartThings hub. But what I really want is to use a HomeAssistant Yellow - but I can't get it to be discovered.
- I might be bit early on this, but is anyone else noticing a slow trend away from the just hosting everything in one of the big cloud providers? Or keeping all of your work, data and communications in a single, centralized place that you have no control over?
- Most organizations have a loose plan in place for when a production issue takes their app down or when an attacker eventually penetrates a system. In both of these cases A9 in the OWASP top ten is very good advice owasp.org/Top10/A09_20...
- Software engineers probably spend more time than most in front of a keyboard. I certainly fall into that category. Over the last couple of months, I’ve been blocking off time for exercise and non-tech reading. I’m spending less time doing work, but being much more productive while I’m working.
- As an engineering leader, it's common to use past experience to lead your team down a specific path. Before doing so, make sure you're aware of the problem context and the team's experience. It won't help if your recommendations aren't the right fit for the team.
- Remember back in the day, when there was the promise of "reusable object oriented code"? When you could build a library of components that would work great and you could just use them everywhere and make countless products out of them? Ok, so that didn't really work out..
