- I'm stuck in traffic.
- Reposted by Andrew ForbesDon’t know how many more examples it’s going to take for people to realize that billionaires are an existential threat to democracy and its institutions.
- Moonlight on snow
- Beautiful day to get the ODR up and running.
- A little chilly this morning.
- oh but sure it's gonna write legislation and research papers and poems and paint the most beautiful paintings foh
- Busy planning the next thing. When I'm working on fiction I find it helpful to draw up a timeline, and that's what I'm doing tonight, with a Bill Evans record on the turntable and Bucks-Sixers on TV. Ultimately a meaningless task, but it's good to focus on something other than the end of things.
- "In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive—because of its diversity and not in spite of it."
- Really enjoyed this doc on the Rouen Huskies. Charles Vincent, one of the filmmakers (and the narrator), reached out and shared it with me, and I'm glad he did. Worth a watch if you have 20 minutes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5Nq...
- "Wilbur Wood was[...] Old Testament. He was the last vestige of a time when men named Rube and Mordecai and Smokey Joe and Grover strode as giants upon the land, their won-loss records both gleaming and gory, good and bad entangled." (& read Cardboard Gods by @joshwilker.bsky.social if you haven't)
- Winter Saturday night: this and a beer and a book and Sens-Habs (which started badly for OTT, then got really good, then ended badly).
- Curt Flood filed his lawsuit against Bowie Kuhn et al. OTD in 1970, for which Kyle Tucker is no doubt very, very grateful.
- Fully ruined my daughter's day by texting her the Bichette news, but better she should hear it from me.
- Kyle who?
- Snow day afternoon beers with a pal at The Pig's Ear.
- Back in the barn for the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game.
- I was thrilled to arrive home from our holiday earlier this week to find that this gorgeous thing had arrived from @thetwinbill.bsky.social I'm grateful! So nice to think of the book reaching some readers who are on its wavelength.
- Another weekend, another gym, another tournament.
- Reposted by Andrew ForbesSports media is failing fans. Two months ago, the NBA and MLB had players and coaches indicted by the federal government for placing bets on games. In previous eras, this would be a crisis. Now? Crickets.
- Been a truly great winter holiday but a series of mishaps and odd circumstances means that today we're going to touch 3 continents in 24 hours before, hopefully, making it back to dig our car out of a snowbank and then drive home. I miss the cat.
- So long to MTV, predeceased by MuchMusic 🇨🇦. I love music videos. This is one of the best. youtu.be/mfI1S0PKJR8?...
- Happy New Year from Falassarna, Crete.
- Preach, Mary Oliver
- Merry Christmas from Nafplio, Greece.
- Consider this my Out of Office notification, sent from an airport lounge. May each of us find peace and stillness this week, however we may define those things, and however briefly they are on offer.

- Wallace and Davis! Honestly, White Christmas night is one of my favourite nights of the year. We usually watch it on Christmas Eve, but circumstances this year mean tonight is the night. I wrote about it many years ago: A Little Larceny — sinkhole share.google/YnjFIiSxcpBx...
- Happy holidays from the guys.
- Whirlwind 24 hrs in Toronto, just enough time to grab coffee with a friend, meet my Christie to take in the Flemmish Masters exhibit at the ROM, dine, then head to the Paradise for my first Basement Revue. I read new work, which is always terrifying, but as promised the BR audience was wonderful.
